Do you think Karl is a virgin
Do you think Karl is a virgin? If he is, would you want to hang out with him? If not, isn't he a total hypocrite? I know it seems odd, but when I heard he's getting off without being charged with anything, this just popped into my head. Personally, I think he's probably a self-hating homosexual who really has never had sex (ok, maybe once). Since he's denied his true passions, he thinks all gay people should do the same.
Talk about character!

"Truth matters" too, to the reality-based community...
No one is looking for excuses for the war in Iraq -- the majority of people in this country is now interested, at long last, in the REAL REASONS for it. Don't haul out the tired, misleading conflation of 9/11 and this war of choice in Iraq -- WHY are we there?
Interesting to hear chickenhawks like Rove continue to beat up on true military heroes like John Kerry and John Murtha -- I don't recall that Rove, Rumsfeld, Cheney or Bush were EVER "with" anyone "for the first few bullets" on ANY field of battle.
How can this administration maintain, with anything approaching a straight face, that DEMOCRATS are tax-and-spend budget busters? It is absolutely a statement of fact that the Clinton era budget surpluses have been converted into record-breaking budget deficits by Bush and his Republican lackeys in Congress. Oh, I forgot, tax cuts (primarily for the highest income brackets) are ALWAYS appropriate -- when times are good, and the budget's balanced, CUT TAXES; when times are bad, and we're being bled dry by a war of choice in Iraq, CUT TAXES. One-size-fits-all government at its worst.
So, "...character matters," huh? I guess, as Bill Clinton famously indicated when he said, "It all depends on what the definition of 'is' is," it all depends on what the definition of "character" is. Does a person of character indulge in character assassination? In wars of choice? In deferring our budget deficits to the next generation? In merging big business with the federal government so it's impossible to tell the difference? In denying the human responsibility for global warming, and refusing to do anything of substance about it? In continually pushing divisive hot-button issues like gay marriage and the flag burning amendment to distract the masses and maintain political power?

But Money Matters More
That loud noise I heard yesterday must have been the sound of 400 jaws hitting the floor when Karl Rove stood there and declared that the Democrats were for higher spending and the Republicans were for lower spending. Surely telling a whopper like that is no way to get people at a fundraiser to open their wallets and contribute. Why not just stand there and state the obvious -- we got caught pulling one of our many and varied dirty campaign tricks and it's cost us a small fortune in legal expenses. If you want to wrest control away from the Democrats here in New Hampshire you need to give 'til it hurts -- with your help we'll build a swift boat big enough to sink every Democratic candidate in the whole damn state.

Bigger Deficits?
Why on earth would he think that? The last Democratic president had a surplus. Two of the last three Republican presidents have racked up record deficits. Saying a Democratic administration would rack up larger deficits seems unlikely, especially considering how obscenely large the deficit is now. It's a tough mark to beat.

character
"Character matters", but what does that really mean. Conservatives and Republicans constantly speak of their "character." "Character" like "quality" is meaninless without an adjective. Sure George Bush, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and the rest of that motely crew have "character"...a very low character. They can say "character" all they want, but their actions and policies supply the adjectives they conveniently avoid.

What really matters regarding Rove
Is to beat him and his charges in the electoral field in November. For the purposes of dealing with the nation's problems, these disturbing allegations are ancillary. Politicizing this dead issue is futile for the Democrats.

Go get 'em richE
Nice letter,
There are three things the Dems oughtta be hammering on;
1. This administration is corrupt.
They are hooking-up their corporate "base" while we foot the bill ie; Halliburton, energy companys, defense contrators.
2.This administration LIED to the american people.
Some of us knew it while it was going on (quite a few senators included). Now the lie is exposed (and changes)again and again. And I still see W stickers on cars. Such a magnificent deception! People die in the meantime.
3. There WAS at one time, an idea of a great society.
Goddammit it's not a bad idea. This country is looked to by the world as an example. Dems ought to be progressive. Kids need to get educated, people should not suffer needlessly for lack of healthcare, the treasure of this country should not be doled-out to those that already have it.
I want a politician to stand the hell up! F***cing BE progressive. I think you will find that it IS the will of the people.

Rove's comments in New Hampshire
It is astounding to read that Karl Rove said Republicans are "for lower spending", and that Democrats, had they been in charge, would have created a "bigger deficit". I can only assume that Mr. Rove intends to continue utilizing his theory that if you repeat something often enough, people will believe it.
Everyone knows that this Republican administration and Republican Congress has and is spending like drunken sailors. Everyone knows that after eight years in office, Bill Clinton left the country with a huge surplus, and that this Republican adminstration and Republican Congress has turned it into a deficit our children and grandchildren will be paying for, for years.
The G.O.P. dares not argue that there was a Republican Congress under Clinton that was at least partly responsible for the surplus left by that administration. This simply won't wash because Republicans hated Clinton, and the last thing they would want to do would be to leave anything in place that Clinton could take credit for.

Reveille for Democrats
Listen up Dems! Karl Rove just fired on your Fort Sumter. You now exactly where he stands with you and it isn't a house united. You also now know the weapons he will use and if you do not respond clearly, coherently, agressively and determinedly you will lose in a bloodbath of recriminations.
Don't count, Sen Reid, on Bush continuing to throw balls. No team ever won being walked home through nine innings. And besides, Karl Rove yesterday in NH didn't throw balls, he through for your head.
Don't count on the media, mainstream, leftstream or otherwise. They are not your friends. They are friends of the schoolyard bully, because that bully knows how to attract a crowd and crowds bring revenue. Ann Coulter exists for the fact she attracts viewers who whether they hate or love her add up to Neilson numbers. The media is not left wing it is profit wing. The fact many of us liberals do not understand this is why the administration crows that they don't have to deal with reality as they make their own. They created the liberal media myth and they control the debate; while nothing about the media is liberal, unless you count sexual innuendo and fart jokes.
The only thing you Democratic leaders have is the determination and willingness to stand up to bullies, boldly and without regret, and even more important to Destand up for something no matter how risky, with equal stubborn boldness confidence and no sense of regret.
George Bush sold a disasterous war on promises and assurances no intelligent person could ever have accepted, but he and his minions did so with such over the cliff certainty the people bought it, and so did most of you.
You need to learn the lesson here is not to revel in his misfortunes but to stand up equally bold for initiatives that we already can be assured can't possibly end up as bad as five years of Bush.
Here's your start. Take what Rove has just thrown in your face, and through it right back at him and his "boss" with equal measure. I'll get you started.
Rove: "The administration has no excuses for Iraq."
Dems: "This administration has had nothing but excuses for Iraq!"
Then prepare the list for the talking heads. Include in your answers Abu Graib, Hadifa, the war will pay for itself, civil war, the list goes on and there is plenty of source material. Just google Iraq, George Bush and the rest is done for you.
Rove: "Dems like Murtha and Kerry will always cut and run"
Dems: "No Democrat has ever cut and run, nor shirked the call of duty! Not Wilson, not Roosevelt, not Lyndon Johnson. If you want to know who shirks the call of duty in times of war or peril ask George National Guard Bush and Dick I had more important things to Do Cheney."
Follow up with pointing out that the admin's only true war hero, Colin Powell, was ignored and booted by these draft dodging incompetents.
Rove: Dems believe in tax and spend.
Dems: No Congress has ever wasted as much of your tax dollars on pork barrell payoffs to their crooked lobbyists than this band of Republican crooks!"
Follow up with: We believe in fair taxation! All Americans know that to preserve our peace, protect our shores, and care for the common good, taxes must be paid. But the debt must be shared fairly not for the benefit of the wealthy few at the expense of the hard working many.
We have the largest deficit and debt in American history. If they Republican Congress is letting the wealthiest of the tax hook for the debt, guess who they want to pay for it?
Well, there you go Dems. Its not the end all, but it's a start. Now quit playing in this administration's fake reality sandbox, put away the anti-burning flag amendments, the false peaens to racist evangelists, and muddy mutterings about gay marriage and abortion and get back to the center where what matters is the pocket book and the lives of American soldiers overseas. The next time some media-idiot asks about gay flag burning immigrants coming to America for abortions confront them about why they don't believe Americans dying overseas while their parents are drowning in debt back home isn't the real question we should be talking about.
Finally, after you've decked Karl Rove, don't be afraid to stand up and declare that a Democratic Congress has a plan for ending the Iraq insurgancy and bringing the troops home in less time than they've been gone. Put forth a 3 year plan with milestones and initiatives, but don't worry, nothing you could offer could sound more ridgiculous now than "I don't see how we would need to be there more than six months" or "This war will easily pay for itself with the oil revenues we steal from them." If challenged declare that any administration or Congress of a nation so strong and great as ours that can't assure its people it can end a conflict in a middling third world country within three years does not deserve to be in charge of anything.
