Just think, if everybody wasn't responding with their reflexive outrage over Ann's latest public projectile vomiting, no one would have even heard about her appearance on TODAY.

And it's not important that we do. She decides no policy. She's nothing, a distraction used only because the terrifying Canada terror plot isn't moving our attention away fast enough from...Haditha, for instance.

So they toss her in our faces like flak, or like sand in a referee's eyes. And just by exposure to the curious she manages to sell more books. Why, I'll bet some of my fellow liberals are going to buy the damn book just to attack it. Which is fine because, either way, it sells; it doesn't matter why. Ironic money is still green.

Coulter is a cluster bomb of toxic memes. She picks the ones as pointy as her skin, scatters them all over the place during whatever time she has on the air, and runs. Some don't stick. Some stick in the craws of liberals and they then waste time expelling them, wondering why they're so out of breath and energy once they've retched 'em up. And some stick in the spacious skulls of the ignorant and rattle down till they drop from their mouths.

That is all she's for. Well, and the wank fantasies of closeted young Republicans.

It is not necessary to pay any attention to her; in fact it's destructive. She is a screeching siren who lures intelligent people to intertia. And she counts, ultimately, for nothing. Every time you argue with her she just laughs.

As they said on the Simpsons: Just don't look.

My initial response to the video was the same as most writers: "why does ANYONE pay this woman to appear on their show!?!!". But, I have to say that I really like Forest's take on it.

And not only Coulter; the MSM should be inviting O'Reilly, Hannity, et al to sit down for interviews as frequently as possible--provided the interviewer is as prepared and as fearless as Stewart or Colbert. These twits rarely pass up an opportunity for self-promotion, and if--over and over again, day in and day out--the bright light of reason and compassion could shine on these cave-dwellers the era of their ascendancy would soon be over; ended by the sudden realization of red state voters everywhere that the people they believe speak for them are nitwits who love self-congratualtion and loathe everything else.

Okay MSM...bring it on.

Why is Ann Coulter so popular? Why do we waste time talking about someone so filled with hate? Is it the long blonde hair? The blue eyes? The skinniness? The smirk? A few years ago a reporter from SALON commented on her "beauty" and wasted a whole article interviewing her. Almost turned me off SALON for life. If Ms. Coulter were a Black female (no matter how attractive), and made the exact same remarks, she would be considered a nutcase and ostracized.

I need to get myself a blond wig and start making outrageous comments and writing insipid books screeching about "godless liberals". Like Ms. Coulter, I need the money and will say just about anything to get publicity. It's obviously worked well for her.

What to do with Ms. Ann Coulter? Like other right-wing hate-media stars, she's clearly all about character assassination and out-of-context cherry-picked facts and quotes. These media hacks don’t want debate, they want to grab attention. They deal with smears, they know innuendo and hate, that’s what they do. They are the stars of political hackery.

The Left has its own, but they don’t do as good a job, because their heart is less into it, in general, being more concerned with “fairness” and "community", concepts that don't lend themselves well to targeted assassinations of political opponents. The Right does it better, understanding power better, going for the gut better. It’s the difference between the Gore campaign and the Bush mafia in Florida.

This silly argument about the widows is just typical. Coulter is obviously over-the-top rude and hypocritical, spouting false or misleading facts and impressing vast segments of Middle America with her quick (though shallow) tongue and her physique.

Politics is full of hypocritical cant on both sides of the political divide, it’s just that Coulter and her fellow travellers take it to the extreme, and then have the constant gall to accuse more reasonable people of the craziness that she’s the master of. They're masters of hackery. Don't try to compete.

Let her speak, often. Let her on all the media outlets, but pin her, make her explain her b.s.–don’t just let her make wild statements unburdened by a reality check, because then the stupid amongst us will take her as Gospel. She sure sounds confident, like any jerk in a bar on a Saturday night, and she's attractive to some for her quick tongue and her cleavage, and the worst thing anyone could do is to limit her exposure.

The fault is not with Ann--if she keeled over tomorrow there would be 10 more like her, spawn from the same dark place of fear. The fault, really, is with our expectations of journalists and interviewers. We need to make sure they start to do as Matt L. did a bit: repeat her words back to her and have her explain them. Let her rant 'til the cows come home, but hold her to the truth of her statements, and she’ll shrivel in the light of day.

How awful that the "Today" show allowed this woman national air time to spew her partisan-based vitriol. Of course, I have my ideas about 9/11. Let's just say the 9/11 Commission was hired by BushCo. to investigate themselves.

Do these widows have the makings for a slander case? It would be great if all the profits of Coulter's book were forced to go to 9/11 victims' families.

I am really glad that the current media culture was not around when Hilter was in power...I can just imagine the vile spewing interviews and subsequent sound bites that we would have seen over and over. Why does the media give hate mongering radicals a platform upon which to spew their poison? Ann Coulter should be shunned, ignored into oblivion. I can only hope that this latest episode of Ms Coulter's will finally offend enough of the middle ground folks in this country that they begin to question who they are listening to and following. We need to promote tolerance in this country and come together as Americans and find our common ground if we are to change the direction we are headed....a direction that is leading to the decline of our country. We need to hear voices truly trying to unite us, not the divisive hate/fear mongering crap that indundates our media.
