Ann Coulter and those "millionaire broads" from 9/11 Pot, meet kettle.

  • Sounds like a self-description

Coulter: "These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-parrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husbands' death so much."

I'm not sure if anyone's stalking Coulter, but much of the description applies almost precisely to her. I would add that I have never seen anyone enjoying the death of American democracy as much as Ann Coulter.

  • Oh, how we need another Joseph Welch

This passage, taken from the transcript of attorney Joseph Welch's historic encounter with Joe McCarthy during the 1954 Army-McCarthy hearings, is SO apt right now:

"You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"

What this country needs is millions of people who are willing to say "Enough!" to idiots like Ann Coulter. In the case of Coulter, since it's quite clear she's NO LADY, I wouldn't even change Welch's "sir" to "madam" -- leave it as it is.

    - - - - -

Moving right along, a question comes to mind after pondering Coulter's criticism of "millionaire broads" from 9/11 -- since personal loss is apparently no grounds for speaking out or having an informed opinion about any subject, is it equally wrong for courts to solicit victim impact statements during sentencing hearings of convicted criminals? Simple logical consistency leads to a conclusion Coulter would say "yes" -- so why hasn't this issue been raised before by her?

Where was she during the recent sniper shooting trials? Never heard a peep. How about during the Zacharias Moussaoui trial? Hmmm -- not a single word there either.

Oh, silly me -- "simple logical consistency?" We ARE talking about Ann Coulter, aren't we? Forget I brought it up.

  • The irony, of course, is that...

9/11 really was the best thing that ever happened to the Bush Administration.

  • Make it go away!

Anne Coulter would go away if everyone stopped paying attention to her. Giving her venues to spout her nonsense from gives her the illusion of credibility.

  • Speaking of Milionaires and Grief

Here in Florida we're obsessed as never before with this week's start of hurricane season after a couple of years of clobbering. And I'm wondering how Ann Coulter would react if her multimillion-dollar cottage in Palm Beach were to be destroyed in the coming hurricane season. Would she forego all offers and manifestations of public aid, from federal flood insurance right on down through blue tarps and bottle of water from a FEMA coffee wagon?

Oh, I know, I know, she can afford to just jet off to the Rockies or some other place for the summer and then rebuild the place from pocket money - it's just that it would nice to see some of the people who are so abrasive about the misfortunes of others be on the receiving end.

At least our prayers in that regard were answered in the case of Haley Barbour's beach house.

  • Why Give Her A Platform?

It has been said many times: Why do mainstream broadcasts and print media give this hate-monger face time? I give Lauer a little credit for questioning her. But, she should be made to defend all her inflamatory rhetoric and not allowed to play the victim herself - saying "You're getting testy with me" to Matt as a way to avoid defending the indefensible. She is a vicious hypocrite and should be exposed as such, discredited, and shunned.

  • Ann Coulter and those "millionaire broads" from 9/11

WHY is anyone paying attention to the fool? She has NOTHING to say....when she does say something she says it badly....so why is anyone listening?

    They're not...she's a has been....

  • The Klan Makes More Sense

I find it very convenient this excuse for a human being has no idea what kind of wide ranging emotions people who experience tremendous, sudden and tragic loss feel. The programmers of the AnnIac 3000 must've loaded the standard Attention Whore code before wheeling her onto the Today Show set this morning because "she" ran thru the all-too predictable robotic motions with the precision of any cheap wristwatch. The real test for this seemingly sophisticated machinery would be to see what this robot would do if someone crashed a commercial jet into her father. Would she sit on her mechanic limbs and quietly mumble to herself or would she persue answers to the reasons behind why he was killed? Wouldn't she be a hypocrite if she did seek these answers? Also, what part of babbling hate mongerer do these producers who book guests on shows like Today not understand? Maybe they should start looking into booking David Duke, he's got some pretty "insightful" commentary for the likes of Lauer to take issue with.

  • Sounds like a self-description indeed

Coulter: "These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-parrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husbands' death so much."

Except that men have been smart enough not to become her husband, dead or alive...

Coulter is a hustler. She is out to promote her book. Ignore her.

  • Please don't waste my time

  • Just One More Thing

I thought it was precious that Ann showed up on "Today" wearing the same outfit in which she was photographed for her book cover. She is such a cartoon.

  • That's not a lady, Baby!

    It's a man.

    /Austin Powers

Ann Coulter and her man-hands can suck it.

It's unfortunate that she's offered platforms to spew her vile rhetoric, but one hopes that people who see her, take a second look at her words and say to themselves, "What a strange woman."

I agree with the sentiment that Progressives need to make note of her commentary and have a ready, intelligent and accurate response.

I also think she needs to be taken to a lab in Siberia and studied.

/and yes, I'm fully cognizant of the leaps between an attempt at comedy and serious thought in the above commentary. But it's difficult to take anything that woman, er man(?), has to say seriously.

  • Very Sad

Truth be told, I feel sorry for Ann Coulter. I understand she's a pundit attempting to make a living, and apparently she does well enough at it. I understand she has certain conservative beliefs, and that's fine. However, anyone who has to interject politics into every analysis or comment that she makes is suffering from some sort of personality disorder. It's overkill, and simply unnecessary. One example I recall was back in 2004, when the remains of Howard Dean's deceased brother were discovered in Vietnam. Apparently, he had visited the country as an anti-war protestor but ended up being killed by the Viet Cong. One would think that this tragic incident would be beyond politics, and that Dean and his family would be left alone to grieve, but Coulter couldn't help herself. She made comments that I recall reading, to the effect of, "Anyone stupid enough to protest the war in Vietnam by going over there and getting killed had it coming." I personally found that kind of comment totally pointless, inconsiderate, and revolting. It's not punditry - it's just callous stupidity that illuminates nothing in the way of political debate or ideas, save Coulter's shallowness. I didn't have a high opinion of her before I read that, and I now have an even lower one in consequence of that comment.
