George W. Bush, "man of principle"

Moral Compass is broken

Man! So I finally have to admit that I've woken up in the 50's! I mean what else could explain my beloved country's departure from sanity? The Emperor is a reflection of us, so I guess we're now a nation of arrogant, self-righteous, unjust, prejudiced, intolerant, bigots!

I am offended by the actions of the president and his minions regardless of whether or not his intentions are purely political.

Shame on you Mr. Bush, shame on you! You just took a giant dump on every single variation of the meaning of family that does not meet your prejudiced requirement that we all should fit into a outdated, unevolved version of your Ozzie and Harriet.

You have made this country take so many steps back from who we were and where we should be going that I fear we will never get back on course.

When do the witch burnings start? Not a gun lover, but starting to appreciate that whole right to bear arms thing....:(

Regarding Mormons who love Bush

The Mormon support of President Bush, because of his spiritual faith, continues to surprise me. Somebody should ask Dobson, Falwell, Robertson, or any of the Christian Right leaders what they think of the Latter Day Saints. Not what they think of the individuals in the church, but what they think about the faith itself and whether its adherents are Heaven-bound. They'd find out pretty quickly that the Christian Right is using the Mormons for votes, but thinks the people are on the fast track to eternal damnation.

It's just another cynical "get out the bigot vote" effort

Bush is being deserted by the wingnuts in droves and needs to throw them a few chunks of red meat so they'll show up at the polls in November.

Have faith in George W. Bush

Bill Clinton goes to church more than GW Bush does.

The Doo-bees here in Utah need to pay more attention to what Bush does and give less creedence to what he says in public.

You see, folks here in Utah, as well as conservative christians, have faith. Yes, faith is that unwavering belief in what you know to be true even when there is absolutely no evidence to prove it. Faith is what lets people hold on to their beliefs even if contradicted by what some would consider proof of an opposing view.

Such people have faith that George W. Bush is a good, honest, godly man.

Not the royal we...

Added BYU freshman Jaren Olsen: "He's strong, and he doesn't waver. I like that he is for the family, that marriage should only be between a man and woman. And the war, we need to finish what we started."

Note to Jaren: what's with the "we"? Has the Army started a new boot camp at BYU? Oh, right. I always forget that "we" actually means "anyone but me" in the context of Yellow Elephants and the Iraq war. Speaking as a veteran, I can say that we are not amused by your hypocracy.

Just Another Power Grab

I wonder if any of the right-wing has realized that a goverment that has claimed the power to define marriage as being solely between one man and one woman is also claiming the power to define it as being solely between six men, four women, and a grapefruit.

Finish what WE started

Daren Olsen should hurry up and join the soldiers in Irak, that way he becomes part of the WE to finish up this mess. Seems that his ideology is very close to that of Dick Cheney who also talks a big line but when it was time to join the armed forces had his baton twirled so he could avoid service. And the ultimate decider who started the mess in Irak nade sure that he got into the national guard which at that time did not have to serve where there was shooting involved. Well done Jaren. I did not like it when the bullets were flying ,but that was WW2. Talk is cheap, especially when it comes from BYU.

Don't Discount Your Conservative Readership

Don't be so sure that the young college republicans don't have War Room on their summer reading list. With your piece today about the inevitable horseshit candidate the Democrats will produce in 2008 and Manjoo's piece on republican's impeccable election ethics, what better sourcing could they have when spreading their word than Salon?

Where's the gay hairdresser to go along with the Mexican maid?

1. Don't even get me started about BYU students...

2. If the mainstream media has treated us to articles about how the Bushes love their Mexican maid/nanny/whathaveyou, are we to expect the "Laura loves her gay hairdresser and designer" next, just in time for the gay marriage amendment votes?

3. Duh-bya doesn't give a s*** about anyone. Except perhaps a Mexican named Jose Cuervo or a dandy named Johnny Walker. I don't think he's trying to do anything these days that his handlers (Darth Cheney and Pudgey the Rove) don't tell him to.

He never talks about this stuff

Better that Bush pretend to give a shit than to sincerely want to waste time on anti-gay marriage amendment and further trash the Constitution in the process. A president that drinks his own Kool-Aide is even more frightening.
