See the president. Nobody wants to be seen with him.

  • Disconnect

There seems to be a disconnect here. There are people willing to pay big bucks to say they were in the same room with with the President but the people who will benefit from this are afraid to be in the same room with the President. I guess the unfortunate reality (for the hidees) is that the people who give the big bucks only have one vote to give and there aren't enough of them.

  • Close your eyes and count to a million!

Isn't this also the story of the great immigration debate? A perfect way for congress to stand tough against the president and align the democrats with the president on this polarizing issue. After November they call out "Olly Olly Oxen Free"!

    Are we having fun yet?

  • The Preznit hatching more republican lice

Aaah! This little posting was so funny! On this Wednesday, I needed this. Thank you.

  • Well, I laughed.

Actually, from empirical evidence on various websites like FootballOutsiders.com, the Steelers might not have a significantly higher approval rating nationwide than does President Bush. Though I suspect they're probably rather more popular in Pennsylvania.

Now, the interesting question: would (former Pittsburgh Steeler) Lynn Swann dissapear from the state if President Bush dropped by to help him out?

  • Dinner with GWB

I would not be caught dead in that situation. Would anybody? Its enough to see him stutter on a newscast, especially when he has to admit to a misdeed, like Marines going on a shooting spree. But then their slogen is : We learn to kill and kill we will! But Bush is boring and to sit thru a lousy meal at ridiculos prices? Gimme ma a break.

  • Brilliant!

Michael Scherer, I LOVE this article. Your writing in regards to this subject is nothing short of genius!

    Ok, enough with the compliments...

...the fact that this situation has been the Republican M.O. for some time now is absolutely appaling. Michaels choice of writing style points out this fact, rather blatantly, in an almost Dr. Seuss-ish way.

We as a nation have blinded ourselves to this administration's blunders, we have chosen to ignore the gravity of our situation, 60% have allowed themselves to be manipulated by FOXNews propaganda, we as a nation have enabled the President to keep us so fearful and afraid that the media is paralyzed to confront him.

Michael Scherer's writing style points out that we as a nation are acting like children, being manipulated by a disfunctional parent, too afraid to speak out, too confused to take a stand, too bewildered to know who to trust, filled with too much fear to act rationally and he put it in a way even a child could understand.

I believe that this is our lowest moment in history.

  • bush buying friends

I'll bet Bush has been doing this kind of thing all his life. Using cash, hardly ever his own, to buy friends. You know the type. Repulsively spoiled, rotten to the core and on the surface. No one can stand him. You also know the type of great friend money can buy.

I'd almost feel sorry for him if he wasn't so hell-bent on destroying everything in his path.

  • Funny!

Funny article. I hope Bush just sits on his hands for the rest of his presidency, it seems everything he touches turns to a disaster. Maybe we should have Laura Bush running things instead, she's bound to do a better job!

    Joy

  • Who are these donors?

Since few people like the president, who is it that continues to donate money when he makes an appearance?

  • Let's Name Names

jfriesne has a very good idea, "who are these donors" is, I believe the way he put it.

I, from time to time, put in my email comments that 'we the people' have to get down to business ie. we must name names and make lists of just who these people are who perpetrate crimes and damage upon America to serve their own purposes instead of serving for the purposes of 'we the people', which they have been elected to serve.

So lets find out, as jfriesne says, who are these people, lets name their names and lets make lists of just who these people are who seek to radically change/destroy our beloved America, our democracy, our 'system of checks and balances', our nation of laws.

We all are aware of the obvious ones Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Rice, Ashcroft, Gonzales, Rove, most Repubs, Dems who won't stand up to them for America, all Georgies cronies and political appointees, people like Rupert Murdoch and his Fox-ies(the screaming Bill O'Reilly etc.)also Yoo,Alito,Roberts etc. ad nauseam.

But I/we forget about the silent hidden ones who pass out the all the money like the CEO's(Bush's rangers) of Diebold and ES&S and the other e-voting machines and all the other corporate people who largely remain hidden behind the scenes and who should be exposed to the light of day for the great damage they do to our American democracy.

  • Photo with the Steelers

One correction to this article: NO ONE in the Pacific Northwest likes the Steelers. Another nail.
