"An Inconvenient Truth"? Doubt it. "United 93"? Bring it on

The president picks his movies carefully.

Well, duh.

Not surprising. This administration has never been big on inconvenient truths. Probably thought the movie was about prewar Iraqi intelligence.

If it were me...

If a family member or loved one of mine had been on that plane and George Bush had the gall to try and use me as a publicity pawn (after ignoring the warnings pre 9/11, sitting in that classroom for 8 minutes after learning of the SECOND plane hitting the Trade Center, hiding after the attacks, and the absolute disasterous consequences of his policies and actions in the aftermath) I would have told him "I'm sorry, but I'm busy..." No , actually I would have told him to go fuck himself.

Bring it on

Nothing like exploiting other people's misery for political gains...

Meanwhile, that poor excuse for a human being of a President spent 9/11 cowering on board of Air Force One. The Vice was in seclusion. None of these cowardly gasbags was anywhere to be found to address the nation.

Truth and fiction

Truth has never been a strong suit for the president. That may be why he chose to watch fiction.

Bush loves drama

United 93 is about a tragedy and the heroism of those on board. I suspect that Bush loved the drama of United 93. "Inconvenient" is, well, too inconvenient for him, and he can't identify with anything that is "inconvenient" because that requires too much work.

Avoiding an inconvenient enlightenment?

It's said that Ronald Reagan became enlightened about the terrible effect of nuclear war after watching the made-for-TV movie "The Day After." A desire to not be judged as the president who inflicted this horror upon the world caused him to tone down his rhetoric and change some of his policies towards the USSR.

Bush wants nothing of the sort to happen to him.

Anyhow, even if Bush did see "An Inconvenient Truth," I doubt it would change anything. He's made a career out of ignoring inconvenient truths.

Bush is the one who gave them a chance to be heroes... not that they'd be grateful for that

Since Bush was responsible for the people on Flight 93 having to do what they did, he should see the movie.

Had he not been completely asleep at the switch before 9/11, the terrorist attacks would not have occured. And even if he had simply acted immediately after the SECOND TOWER was hit--instead of continuing to listen to "The Pet Goat" and then having a lengthy photo op at the school--Flight 93 would never have even left the ground. That plane did not take off until after the second tower was hit.

I'd like to believe that he'd have some kind of "what have I done?" epiphany when he watches "Flight 93," but somehow I doubt it.

Too much overuse of "hero"

I certainly like saintzak's last tine, and DanielHiggins's take on how Bush would rather watch fiction. I may have missed something, but how exactly do we know that flight United 93 was a plane load of heroes? I know there were cell phone conversations and things were heard, and I feel sure there were some who tried to stop what was happening. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but it does seem that the very word "hero" is just so overused as to almost make it meaningless anymore. To me those passangers that day were just unfortunate souls who happened to be on a flight with those nuts, not heroes, at least not in the sense that Bush and those like him try to make them out. I really feel sorry for the poor family members who allow themselves to be caught up in this sorry excuse of a President's charades. shelby s

Thruth

Bush does not know what the truth is. And a AWOList first class would not even know what a hero is! To suggest that he watch the Inconvinient Truth, what a farce, as he put it there is no Global Warming, and we dont change our lifestyle. All scientific evidence means nothing ot him, being incapable even to speak a complete sentence without a teleprompter. Since he brags about his reading books, here is one for him: The Weather Makers by Tim Flannery. If he can make sense of the evidence quoted, he might still watch Al Gores Documentary and learn something. As another commentary mentioned, he sat dumbfounded for 8 mintues on 9/11, great decider really, than for hours in Airforce One with out addressing the nation. Heroic indeed , like his service in Vietnam!!!Worst President ever.

Sort of like picking the National Guard instead of Vietnam

The draft dodger-in-chief does indeed pick his spots. The same way he picks his relationships. When Daddy was able to keep Dubbyah's butt out of harm's way, he was called on frequently. Now, when he might actually try to restrain the cowboy president, Bush the Greater is ignored.

Anyone want to bet Dubbyah won't be sitting down to a screening of "Baghdad ER" with the families the war has scrambled any time soon.
