I have been waiting and waiting. I so hope that the longer it takes just means the more likely there will be an indictment and a conviction.
But there will always be a pardon waiting in the wings. Or should I say in the West Wing.
I don't know. But it seems to me that we're suffering (and do I ever mean suffering) from "watched pot syndrome." Perhaps if we all just turn our backs to the Grand Jury, go on about our business (you did know that May is National Masturbation Month, didn't you?), and stop watching the clock... well, maybe good things will come to those who wait.
Please, oh please, oh please!
Jason Leopold has gotten to parsing on technicalities to justify the accuracy of his reporting of Karl Rove's (so far non-existent) indictment. He may believe in his own mind that Rove has already been publicly disgraced. But there has been no independently verified confirmation, only boasting and veiled bits of character assassination.
My message for Leopold would be the same as that for George Bush. Apologize for letting wishful thinking get the better of you and report the facts.
Hi,
I'm a reader and admirer of your blog, but I really think you should stop speculating about the Rove indictment until there is something worth reporting.
This excess speculation makes you sound desperate and frankly pathetic.
The conservatives have proven their incompetence and lack of moral discipline. You do not need a Rove indictment to prove it.
Please forget about it for a while.
At www.waynemadsenreport.com the entries for May 17 and May 20 confirm parts of Leopold's story. He also discusses disinformation by the Rove camp regarding the arrival of Alberto Gonzales at the grand jury on May 12 which he (Wayne Madsen) confirms did happen. It's not clear whether his sources are the same as Leopold's but his sources confirm that Rove has been indicted. He also has some interesting comments on Fitzgerald's vulnerability (since he is not operating under the expired Independent Counsel Statute) to pressure from the White House.
Why would Fitzgerald tell Rove that he has 24 hours to get his affairs in order? That's a phrase used when someone is going to jail--not being indicted. At the rate these things proceed, it will likely be years before Karl Rove will have to get his affairs in order---that is, IF he ever gets convicted and hauled off to prison.
