They really are normalizing this process.
I can say that because it is now normal to use tax dollars as gifts to be handed out to friends and cronies, behind the scenes and with no public knowledge or approval.
I look forward to the time, twenty years from now, when conservatives are writing books rhapsodizing about the wonderful Bush II era, when everything he touched turned to gold and all was well with the world.
When he was governor, one of his friends had a refinery that kept exceeding pollution standards. So Dubya line item vetoed funds for pollution monitoring. Problem solved!
In order to prevent another Bunatine Greenhouse moment, the rule of authority on how our debt dollars are to be spent in the future will now be governed by the Keystone Kops instead of the qualified officials hired to do General Accountability. I take it this a preventive maintenance measure on the Government's part. A "streamlining" process if you will, one that gets past those pesky accountants who want to know how the taxpayers' money was spent and clear out all those silly laws set to enforce the GAO standards. This is great news! It means more football games with bundles of 100's for the ball, 100 dollar bill cigar wrappers for those who smoke and any other use one can dream up aside from serving the interests of the people whose money it actually is.
I love my country but I hate the toilet bowl we're all in. Its tough getting shit upon each and every day by our leaders' obsession with their narrow self-serving ways and not the People's way. It scares me to think about what the future holds for us as indentured servants to those who will eventually hold our massive debt directly over our heads. We already have huge unprecedented trade deficits with Asian countries like Japan and China so indirectly, we're already paying out interest on these loans for the cheap imported goods that flood our market. Conversely, we gain nothing in return due to the high tariffs charged to consumers overseas on exported goods from here. What happens when these debtors have enough leverage to snap us in two like a dried twig? The collective back of this country is not made out of elastic and tensile strength can only hold so much. Wars and natural disasters are harrowing enough, but the thought of our nations' debt being owned wholly by a foreign entity spells the end of this country as we know it with only a shriveled hollowed husk of a nation left in its place.
