The truth about the truth

Buffalobill wrote:

"Truth is starting to haunt this administration."

True, but in the spririt of "the whole truth" I'd say that the truth is starting to haunt this nation.

As Ben Franklin predicted, the people of this country have finally become so corrupt that we are only fit to be ruled by despots.

Not one of Ben's more impressive predictions - all this one takes is a little more than pedestrian appreciation of human history. But it's looking more and more like this has become our time to learn some hard lessons.

And what is the lesson?

A while back John Edwards wrote a piece about what had gone wrong. I remember quote from that article...

"...the foundation of moral leadership is telling the truth."

Can anyone think of any problem we face that isn't grounded in lies?

People lie. This is one fact that most distinguishes us from animals. The only way to deal with this problem is to attempt to create societies that are grounded in the rule of "good" law.

As Ben predicted we have reached a dangerous point of individual and national corruption, with no saving grace in sight. But, what about the law? Through our hands, and our silence, our rule of law has also been corrupted from the rule of "good" law to the rule of laws made by the rich, for the rich, and of the rich.

America is a rotting diseased body on the verge of becoming a corpse. It is doubtful that strong enough medicine will arrive in time.

Missing the Boat

Porter Goss resigns out of the blue... Why? Perhaps, the unthinkable. Perhaps he asked Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Hadley, Libby etc. some very specific questions about Iraq, Iraq Intelligence & WMD, The Plame/Wilson debacle, the plan for success in Iraq qnd the Cheney/Bush energy plans. Now, those answers the 'Principals' provided to someone who perceived himself to be a trusted member of the team, are being revealed to be a pack of lies. Goss considers himself (now) to have been played for a fool (and a fools messenger) as he has fought the good fight on behalf of this administration. Perhaps he has realized the depth and breadth of the crimes that have been committed by Bush and his pals. Perhaps, Porter Goss has realized just how close he is to spending a few years teaching civics lessons to drug dealers in Danbury Connecticut. Truth is starting to haunt this administration. Consider the reality that this was announced on a Friday afternoon, just like all of the other major stories Bush/Cheny have sought to bury.

You people don't know when you're being used

Can't you see that this whole incident is a CIA/White House ruse to get us to shut-up about Stephen Colbert?

Goss ip

The old boys club Kennyboy, Browny, De Lay etc. seems to have a problem or two! Now the much touted Gossy quits suddenly, may lousy intelligence be the reason? Or some hooker? Or gambling with some financing from CIA contractors? Poor George, TGIF, but will he still remembers what happened on Monday? Some more water on the mills of Jon Steward and Steven Colbert, can't wait for Monday.

"Maybe in a week or two we'll find out that Goss was shoplifting at Target."

You mean the Porter Goss who declared himself unfit to lead the CIA only to change his mind when he was actually offered the job? Maybe. These neo-con creeps will take anything they can get their hands on.

Porter Goss "led ably"

For someone who goes out of his way to pat everyone who resigns on the back, Bush's "He's led ably" comment sounds like the kiss of death. Even the Reuters' release title was judgmental: "Porter Goss abruptly resigns as CIA chief". I think we can count on something fishy about this one.

SOCOM

Under the DOD's plan for SOCOM, CIA and State take a backseat to mid-level military officers in the field. Nobody likes it, including the staff Generals whose revolt was probably directed at this undermining of their authority, as much as Iraq, where several of the SOCOM groups are being deployed, without much effect evidently. The details of SOCOM can be found at www.SOCOM.mil. It's not hard to understand why Rumsfeld prefers this approach, rolling up the governments counter-terrorist activities into one paramilitary group headed by someone like Ollie North, who makes decisions on the ground. SOCOM is an abuse of constitutional authority and accountability, which has gone unquestioned. Porter Goss didn't want to stick around.
