The Senate has abandoned a number of its duties since the Republicans took over in favor of deference to a Republican administration. Impeachment? Sure, if the Republican controlled House actually votes to impeach in the first place.

Even if the Democrats take control in 2006, and by God I hope they do, the Republicans can cause it to drag out until it makes no difference. What's the chance the Democrats will make a major impeachment effort in the middle of the 2008 presidential campaign? Fat chance, that would be "too political" for today's Democrats.

If the Kerry's and Clinton's of the Senate aren't willing to call for impeachment now then I really expect only a half-hearted push if the Democrats actually control the agenda after 2006.

Rather than a call to impeachment, this is more like putting Mr. Bush on notice that he may have spent his political capital (real or imagined), and perhaps he should stop overreaching for that dictatorship he so longs for...

How can we tolerate impeaching a President for lying about sexual relations, and then not impeach a president whose lies have led to war, violated our constitutional rights and sunk our country into unfathomable debt?

What does this say about "American" family values, or worse, what does this say about the American people? We are observed to sit and watch this horror of a President unfold, unchallenged, in the newspapers, magazines and television--while the rest of the World ponders:"how is this possible, that the American people tolerate this?"

Perhaps the time to impeach has past, and perhaps the conversations should also consider submiting the current President and his administration to criminal prosecution and war crimes?

When will the process begin. It's long over due.

Instead of talking about it and warning the President that he can be sent home, why does Congress do nothing about it. We have been waiting too long already. And by the same token, include Vice Prsident

Andrushka, as much as I agree with you, there is still one item that has to be added. Dont forget that great Senator from Alaska who let the oil barons testify with out being sworn in. If Bush and Cheney get the boot, he would be No 3 in the succession. Probably even worse than the other two. It seems that the execs were lying through their teeth grace to this gentle(?)man. Why did he let them off?

It's going to take more than Democrats in power to bring about impeachment. A solid majority of the American people (not just the ever-whining liberals) will need to express some outrage, demand accountability, and favor punishment in the form of firing. And that's not likely to happen when that majority is a bunch of sheeple making little to no effort to ask questions, search out the truth or lift their heads from the sand in which said heads been stuck for the past 5-6 years. It's always easier to do nothing than it is to do something.

The Current Occupant (thanks G.K.) should remain and continue to make a gigantic mess of the Oval Office. I've always been an advocate of handing the Chimperor earth-moving equipment and large spools of rope. Let him go. The only thing one can hope for is that the next Administration not let this one off the hook. World Court anyone?
