For Katherine Harris, one very costly dinner

The GOP candidate for Senate can't explain away her ties to a defense contractor who has pleaded guilty to bribery.

The letters thread is now closed.

$2,800 for dinner???

What did they have, buckets of caviar?

Interesting Choice of Charity

Has anyone looked yet to see what Global Dominion Impact Ministries does? I did a Google search but couldn't find them anywhere. From the name, they sound like part of the theocratic "Christian Dominionism" movement, and I know Harris has recently tried to curry favor with right-wing Christians, but without specifics I can only speculate.

What a maroooooooooon!!

couldn't happen to a more deserving b----!!! my understanding is that dinner included 2 bottles of $1000. wine!! was that from Haliburton vineyards?

Jeezus Hernandez Christ!

I could buy $40 a week of groceries for about 1.3 years with that kind of money! Is it any wonder that people in Washington are grossly out of touch with the reality of those of us who work for a living, mix up batches of rice and veggies or homemade soup, and occasionally look forward to a meal out at a nice little hole-in-the-wall restaurant?

About "Global Dominion Impact...:

You can see their incorporation papers at the Florida Secretary of State web site, under Corporations. It's organized in Orange Park (a suburb of Jacksonville) and it's supposed to be an incorporation for organizing a church or churches for social work. Which sounds like a very vague purpose for having a tax shelter.

That's not the only monkey business....

... Katherine Harris has been up to. Apparently she channeled Mrs. Robinson while meeting with a young college newspaper reporter and unfortunately, someone was there snapping pictures:

Meet Global Dominion Impact Ministries

Josh Marshall has unearthed some interesting info about the ministries' Pastor Sandra: She apparently has "an inspiring testimony of her deliverance from being sold to devils as an infant. She also shares her miraculous healing from her breast cancer as well as being raised from the dead. The Ministries' Pastor Lourdes also brought someone back from the dead."

Why on earth is Katherine Harris giving money to these wackjobs?

Problems uniquely her own?

On the contrary, accepting kickbacks, lying, coercing those who question them, and painting a rosy picture in the face of apocalyptical disaster are the modus operandi of GOP politicans in general. The reason they face between a setback and a rout in November (I predict the latter) is because the average soccer mom & NASCAR dad voter are finally waking up to realize they've been played for a patsy. No one likes that -- not even a dim-witted Republican.

Yet again, appearance

I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a major story about a female politician without looks being mentioned.

Wasn't today:

"We're not talking eye shadow here -- although that continues to be an issue for Harris, apparently..."

Seems just last week I'd made a similar note on Cynthia McKinney and the story spending a lot of time on her hair.

We sure don't do that to the men much, for good reason.

The web site lays it all out. These guys are dedicated to spreading the word that all Jewish Floridians are doomed to hell.

That's a 'charity'?

Global Dominion Impact Ministries' website reads more like a lobby... perhaps to funnel money to like-minded politicians. No, that couldn't happen.

But it has probably been granted 'non-profit' status by other (or the same) sympathetic officials.

This box of snakes just keeps stretching the limits of my revulsion.

Katherine Harris is not just ANY Republican...

She is the one who handed the 2000 Elections to George Bush on a plate, and as such NOBODY in Florida likes her.

Her problems go way, way, waaaay beyond that of a normal Republican's.

See, she FORGOT that there are more voters than Republicans able to pull her up - she needs to be VOTED in - and she did not realize how moronic the man that she sold her morals for would be as a president, inciting the voters. Ergo, her present predicament.

Her contempt for the ordinary voters are now coming to bite her back. She gets to lie (pun alert) in the bed she made, along with the dogs and fleas.

what they had for dinner

My guess: lots of expensive alcohol. Assuming that it was just the two of them, that's just about the only way to get into the quadruple digits.

Here's the restaurant's surpisingly clunky website: http://www.citronelledc.com

Their special Chef's Table Dinner "starts at $275.00 per person for food and wine pairing," which gives you an idea of their prices.

Bye, Hairass

Cheap whores are lots more expensive than they used to be, apparently. Kate the snake's political "career" is done. fuck her, deeply and thrice.

Cluster

This jacked up situation looks like a total cluster fuck. Not that that would be any different from any of the other Republican stories making the news.
