What a surprise!

But is that all?

Coburn is plainly not lashed to the deck

Tom Coburn is a classic loose cannon. In a Republican party known for its marching discipline, he shoots his mouth off compulsively. Johnny Iselin in the Manchurian Candidate wasn't quite Coburn's sort of flake.

Alan Keyes is bound to endorse the guy for President at some point. He's already got the backing of Mallard Fillmore; the comic spent a week lauding Coburn's virtues as an outsider speaking truth to power a while back.

Aw, no he didn't!

Coburn claimed that lesbianism was so "rampant" in parts of southeast Oklahoma that some schools will "only let one girl go to the bathroom."

but he said that "if you've been keeping up with things, you've got a pretty good idea" of who's going down.

Mallard Fillmore - Now There's an Endorsement !!!

Anybody else notice that whenever a cartoonist wants to portray a greedy, self-centered, ignorant character they use a duck? Donald and Daffy come right to mind. Ludwig vonDuck and the nephews are, of course, notable exceptions.

I'm not surprised that Tinsley finds Coburn his kind of candidate.

Just sayin'...

The candidate that Coburn defeated in his Senate race would have been known as a "Republican" in any other state. So you don't want to imagine what kind person "Sterilizer Tom" is. The only reason he wasn't too wacko to be elected even in Oklahoma is that the RNC started running ads saying that a vote for Coburn's opponent was a vote against Bush, and a vote for Clinton/Kennedy/Daschle. My hopes were dashed in 30 seconds.

Otherwise, he would have only gotten about 40% of the vote even here, in the stupidest state in the nation.

So, take what you want from his statements.

Worst. Senator. Ever.

Just sayin'.
