Was he another example of a big bush donor?
I know I'll get flamed for this, but as interesting as it is to root out "hypocrites" like Mr. Doyle and the former mayor of Spokane, it occurs to me that they're being essentially convicted for a "thought crime".
Doyle never actually chatted up a 14 year old on the internet, he made nasty talk with an adult agent posing as a 14 year old looking to catch pederasts on the hunt for actual 14 year olds. There's no evidence at this point that Doyle ever actually molested any real underage person and had he not been "lured" into chasing this one, it's quite possible that he might never have done so.
Now there is the whole business of using government resources in the pursuit of this illegal fantasy, but he's actually mostly guilty of having unacceptable fantasies and acting them out on the internet and quite possibly trying to make them real.
It's ironic that he does work as a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security which helps to implement the Patriot Act, but I have to ask the question.
Where are we going with some of this and these kinds of stings?
George Bush's team must have looked under some mighty big rocks to find Brian Doyle. An arrogant, stupid child molester. He's so bad then even the usual gang of shameless Republican sycophants aren't rushing to his defense.
Doyle wasn't just after a 14-year-old girl. He thought she had lymphoma. Read the Washington Post article. The guy is TURNED ON BY UNDERAGE GIRLS WITH CANCER.
I'll bet Chertoff is washing his hands right this minute. With bleach. How fucking sick are these Bushies?
...Degenerates Harassing Schoolgirls
Want to bet these very same creeps were totally (and vocally) outraged about Clinton's Oval Office antics?
Honestly, is there anyone in the DHS who isn't huffing paint all day? Is there anyone there who isn't a sociopath, a drunk or a dimwitted moron?
How the hell did these guys into this department? Was it not created by the Bushmen for the security and welfare of the nation? But then looking at Chertoff and the mess created 7 month ago after Katrina, nothing is really surprising. What is astounding hoewever, is the fact that some people consider the action in Doyle's case not really a crime, but an imaginary trespass. Using dirty language and inciting a 14 year old to sex, give me a break, even that is criminal. Is that what the president meant with NO Child Left Behind?
Actually, I think DHS stands for Department of Humiliated Sexoffenders. OK OK, sex offenders is really two words.
Sex crimes aren't just committed by "icky men." We've seen plenty in the press lately to support that. A headline today is about a female adult (teacher) having sex with a 13 year old.
Believe it or not some men actually aren't capable of or inclined to be sexual predators.
The same extremely incorrect thing occurred to me--the guy didn't actually DO anything except fantasize with a grownup over the internet. (Yeah, while on the job, that's the crime part.) I thought these guys actually had to show up at the motel with the trunkful of sex toys and microwave s'mores, ready for the assignation with Lolita, before they could get arrested.
If he had actual IRL sex with a young-looking twenty-year-old who told him she was 14, would that be statutory rape? What if he photoshopped Lands' End catalog pictures of kids to make them look like porn? If he'd kept a diary of his icky fantasies but never shown it to anybody, is that a crime? What if he just writes a smash hit play about somebody who writes about children being tortured and mutilated...no, wait, that last one's fine. In fact, it's commendable.
It is no longer a thought crime once he is going to view a child performing sexual acts due to his prodding. Geesh, think people think! Any picture or video of child porn being viewed is illegal, oh and you are fucking kidding yourselves if you think these pervs never end up molesting children. How do we know that after the webcam, he then suggests meeting places, he's already given her all of his real information to prove he's "trustworthy".
He also made the first contact and almost immediately started using vulgar language and sending her explicit videos. From his perspective, it was a 14 year old girl that he was enticing to make pornography (the webcam) for his consumption. So, wouldn't that be solicitation of something illegal? Apparently he left work early and "showed up" to view it.
Yes, the guy seems to be a complete perv, I'm not arguing that. I just think it's interesting from a law-enforcement perspective. In our zeal to catch those who would sexually abuse kids, we set up this Matrix-like situation where they're arresting the guy before anything happens. He approached a virtual 14-year-old, enticed her to create porn, and then was arrested when he showed up to view a webcam act that never actually took place. It couldn't have taken place, because there was no real 14-year-old. Like chancelucky, I wonder what road we're headed down with this.
I meant Minority Report, not Matrix, sorry.
Back before the Internet, the only way to catch pedophiles was to rely on the testimony of their victims after the fact.
Usually the victims were adults by the time they got the courage to speak up. Their acts of speaking up were typically thwarted publicly by the proud champions of the pedophile-friendly theory known as false memory syndrome.
Witch hunt! False memories!
Those days are over forever as chat logs and videos are in police possession that even the most ardent proponent of false memory syndrome must admit constitute real substantial evidence of the prevalence of pedophilia in America today.
As for the guy being stupid -- maybe the guy WANTED to get caught. Maybe deep down inside, this sick man WANTED someone to stop him before he graduated to from sex to torture and murder.
