"appear to contradict" I remember when that just ment liar.
The water actually went through the levees, not over them. The city still flooded, but the distinction is important because it means the levees failed. The levees that the Army Corps of Engineers - part of the federal government - built incorrectly. Did us wrong.
Don't tell me, let me guess ... anyone who criticizes the president for his poor response to the Katrina disaster will be accused of aiding and abetting hurricanes.
What? Bush lied again?!!!!
While Katrina was still hitting the gulf states, I remember Bush talking to the Rep gov of MS. During the same time he was not returning calls to the Dem Gov of LA. I wonder if there has been any media followup on the disparity of responses to the two states.---It may sound conspiracy oriented but it looked like LA was being punished for their politics. That might be the truth beyond the racism.
Bush and his Crony Crew definitely hold grudges against states which aren't totally in his corner. Here in Washington State we haven't gone for a Repub Presidential candidate for ages and we have 2 FEMALE Democratic Senators. Bush and Cheney, on their very rare appearances in this state (even during the 2004 campaign), only show up at a closed Repub fundraiser in Bellevue, or at Ft. Lewis Army base or maybe a brief airport stop. We have as much chance of them showing their face in public here as they would at an Al Quada training camp. If we get the huge earthquake we're due for in the Puget Sound during the Chimperor's reign of error, I don't hold out much hope that we'll have any crack teams sent in to help us. Paybacks are a bitch.
Thirty-four percent of the American people simply yawned and said, "But Katrina never wore a blue dress."
To make it clear I'm no Bush supporter but like the Dubai thing there is much misinformation on this. From what I heard of the tapes the experts are warning the levees may be "overtopped". That is water goes over the levee but it doesn't break. So when Bush says they didn't anticipate a "break in the levees" he may be telling the truth as he sees it.
