I'm depressed, depressed, depressed...

Is anyone else feeling as absolutely depressed as I am? I can't believe that we are living under the control of what is, for all practical purposes, a fascist junta. And the Democratic party does NOTHING. NOTHING. They can't get a message together, they can't counteract anything...the Bush administration runs roughshod over Americans, and people all over the world, and we all sit here like a bunch of fools, while nothing changes.

If Al Gore had shot someone under the Clinton administration, the Republicans would have had Congressional hearings scheduled the next day, not to mention the special prosecutors. What do the Democrats do now, when our VP gets trigger happy? Nothing.

If Abramoff had been fattening the coffers of legions of Democrats? It would have been a constant sickening refrain on all the news, all the time, for months and months, and there would have had Congressional hearings, special prosecutors or even impeachment. And today, the Democrats sit around scratching their heads.

If Clinton did the illegal wiretapping? Congressional hearings, special prosecutors and impeachment. And today, the Democrats try to figure out how to make something stick, and fail, as usual.

Clinton went to wear telling us that Saddam had WMD? Congressional hearings, special prosecutors and impeachment. Democrats? They wifflewaffle, a la Hillary, and get NOWHERE.

Clinton couldn't find Osama Bin Laden after 5 years and billions of dollars spent? Congressional hearings, special prosecutors and impeachment.

I have been a Democrat forever, but you know what? I want to be in another party. Something different, something new, something that actually DOES SOMETHING!!!!!

I wish we could turn in the hand and get fresh cards when it comes to being Democrats. Because Howard Dean is useless. Hillary is a nightmare. And no one is speaking for ME!! None of these chuckleheads is outraged and actually does anything about it.

WHY AREN'T THE DEMOCRATS DOING ANYTHING?

WHY CAN OUR VICE PRESIDENT SHOOT ANOTHER MAN, AND EXCEPT FOR LATE NITE JOKES AND MEDIA INTERROGATION, FACE NO POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES?

WHY CAN OUR PRESIDENT STEAL A FIRST ELECTION, AND THEN HAVE HIS ARTHITECT ENGINEER THE SECOND, AND NO ONE DOES ANYTHING???

I'M SICK, SICK, SICK OF LIVING under the junta, and yet I'm also SICK, SICK, SICK that the Democrats don't seem to be able to organize a bake sale, much less mount an opposition to this insidious administration.

Is anyone else as sick as I am of it all??

Mary

New Rumor

I distinctly remember one of the early TV reports about this incident mentioned in passing that there were 3 people in the hunting party and the 3rd person was a female. That actually resonated with me but my once dirty mind chose instead to assume she must have been some flunky who was there to wait on Cheney and Whittington hand and foot. I think it's interesting as hell though that up until now I haven't heard any other mention of there even being 3 people in the hunting party. I say "up until now" because now there's a little ripple or two going thru the blogosphere that there was a female in the hunting party, she was there as Cheney's guest, and she's Pamela Willeford, our ambassador to Switzerland. I don't care if it was Zippy the Chimp in drag ... I can't wipe the snarky little grin off my face.

With apologies to Zippy, I'm sure Fox will be all over this like ugly on an ape.

What's good for the goose...

I find it interesting that Republican talking-heads proclaiming the Vice President's shooting a man to be insignificant becasue it "affects no one." Was this not the same logic used in the Clinton/Lewinski scandal- that it was the private buisness of two consenting adults?

Even more so in the Clinton case as there is no liscence required, no relavant laws around "trysting while intoxicated" and certianly no risk of immediate death.

"It affects no one and means nothing."

Just like Clinton cheating on his wife. It's a private matter.

Double Standard

If shooting someone in the chest and face "affects no one" and "means nothing" than why did a blow job cause such uproar?

So typical...

Cheney, the coward, goes to Fox, i.e., GOP News Service

Cheney is such a freakin' coward. He's unwilling to submit to a press conference where he might, gasp, get unfriendly questions, so instead he goes running to the GOP's favorite handmaiden, Faux News. No doubt they'll give him the Gitmo treatment there:

"Mr. Vice President, do you feel badly that some say you were too concerned about your friend's health? Do you think it's wrong to rush to a stricken friend's side they way you did, as some Democrats say?"
