Time

Interesting new info from Time. Thanks.

Last night on MSNBC's Countdown, Keith O. interviewed the Caller Times reporter who took the call from Katharine Armstrong, confirmed the info with the White House & reported it on the paper's site. Her name was Kathryn Garcia. She stated that Ms. Armstrong had been trying to reach one specific reporter since 8am. I can't recall his name but Garcia said it was someone who'd been reporting on the Armstrong family for years. Finally, Armstrong called the paper's office at 11am & Garcia, being on her rotation for weekend coverage took the call and handled it.

who could Time's source POSSIBLY have been?

"According to the magazine, White House press secretary Scott McClellan was not told of Cheney's involvement in the shooting until 6 a.m. Sunday, at which point, a Time source says, McClellan began pushing hard to have the information released immediately."

Gosh, poor Scotty sure comes off smelling like a rose here, doesn't he? He jumped out of bed at 6 on a Sunday morning and, for the first time in his career, immediately started calling for a full and open release of all relevant information.

Makes you wonder, who do you think might have stepped forward as Time's anonymous source for this article?

Tim, can you investigate this?

From http://firedoglake.blogspot.com/2006_02_12_firedoglake_archive.html#113994333504415571 : "Slapped him on the wrist for a $7 fine but said he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time."

Um, I beg to differ about the drugs. Cheney has heart and health problems. He is on drugs, probably many of them.

Tim, is there any way you can discover what drugs Cheney takes, and then check the drug specs to see if they include drowsiness, or confused judgment, and if combining any of the drugs he takes will cause limited/poor general perception? I've the feeling that the results might prove very interesting...

The shouting about the shooting

In all the hype and the recriminations about Cheney's bad aim, bad judgement, and post shooting bad judgement there is a danger that we misdirect and mis-spend outrage that would better be preserved for several of Cheney's more nefarious misjudgements. The aftermath of these other actions are of considerably more detriment to more people all around the globe. The man could arguably be said to have his finger on the trigger of much heavier and more dangerous artilery. Recovery time for the world will be much longer than that of his unfortunate shooting victim.
