Oh well.
As a loyal constituent of Kennedy in Massachusetts I could never stop loving the old fool. I'll always love his bright red face and his kind words and his generally consistent stance on the side of all things liberal.
Somebody at Salon wrote a piece last week about the Dems and the Alito hearings called "The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight." How wonderfully true.
Conservatives/Republicans/Wingnuts probably do have the market cornered on contemporary evil, but you've got to concede that they are really, really good at sowing it.
Our side, god love 'em, seems to be waiting for something cosmic to happen before they get their acts together.
Neo-conservatism is a probablem that has to be solved. Unfortunately, our current set of Democratic warriors simply isn't equipped to solve it.
Thanks to Ted Kennedy now I understand why the Democratic Senators on the Judiciary Committee were so lackadaisical asking "questions" from Samuel Alito: They were on vacation! Obviously, cell phones, e-mails and other communication devices are for the staff and our august DemSens cannot bother with such trivialities when out of DC! And the period of November-December must have been spent preparing for vacation! I get it!
How about changing the mascot of the Dems from an ass.... sorry, sorry, sorry... from a donkey to a possum: they play dead so well!
Thanks, Tim. I'm torn between being furious at my party or feeling sorry because the Republicans and the business class they serve have all the money and resources to keep us chasing our tails. How can you fight an illegal war, inadequate health care, an unlivable minimum wage, Alito's nomination, the NSA spy scandals, the wholesale destruction of our environment - I mean, it's like playing "Whackamole." You can't hit fast enough and there are too many moles and not enough mallets.
That said, I agree. The point is STRATEGY. And that has never been my party's strong suit. And without it, things are not going to improve. I hope your words do not fall on deaf ears. The point is critical and needs to be heard and really digested, and ultimately, acted upon.
