  • Does no one care?

Okay, we have plenty of portable technology these days. What I want to see is someone confront Cheney, have him lie, and then whip out the evidence. We can do this! We can show him recorded evidence of himself, on-camera, saying what he says he didn't say!

    Why doesn't someone do this?

Oh, wait, journalists have gotten really lazy. I forgot.

  • Dick - that's what we called Nixon too.

Yep - our estemed Mr. VP is right... in his mind. You gotta remember that Dick has been finagling his way through the halls of power for so long that he no longer sees the truth for what it is. To him it is just another obstacle to be avoided in his quest for power.

Yes - I will go on record in calling Mr. Cheney a liar.

That should get me audited or put on the no-fly list soon. Sigh...

  • The Vice Of Doublethink

Richard Cheney's capacity for national and self deception remains boundless. The WHIG casus belli for the undeclared war on Iraq was the alleged intimate connection between the criminal Saudi Islamists of 9/11, and that "slam dunk" hoarder of WMDs, Saddam Hussein. Full four years later, the committed Straussian says it ain't so.

Skating on the cutting edge of Ockham's Razor is exceedingly perilous, but not impossible, if the one who cries wolf has a legion of flacks and a supine Fourth Estate on the leash.

Thank goodness that sort of thing couldn't happen in a robust constitutional democracy like America.

  • Not the First Time...

I distinctly recall a Daily Show episode where they played Cheney stating that he didn't say something, followed immediately be the clip of him saying exactly that. And I think that was years ago. So, yes, Cheney says things that simply aren't true - repeatedly.

  • Yesterday Bush metaphorically linked Iraq and Al Qaeda

In a speech just yesterday, Bush used the analogy of Japan being our enemy in WWII but our ally now to illustrate his point that victory in Iraq is important. He said that we were attacked at Pearl Harbor by Japan, "just like we were attacked on September the 11th." While not uttering the words Iraq or Al Qaeda in this sentence, his intent was clear: confuse people about just who attacked us on 9/11 and make the more gullible among us keep thinking that the war in Iraq is all about turning enemies into peaceful, democratic allies.

  • Send him a video

We're all allowed our fantasies, of course, and one of mine is to put Cheney in a locked room with a huge TV, and play all his shameless mendacity for him in an endless loop. That would be much nicer than what they do in Gitmo and Abu.
