  • Where There's Smoke There's Fire

What has me worried is that while we found out about Bush ordering the wiretapping what else has he secretly ordered and we have no idea about? Just how far has Bush pushed things?

And my big question, why aren't more people asking those two questions.

  • Impeachment

Why are there only two members of Congress asking for impeachment? The whole Congress should start impeachment procedures against Bush et al. His "crimes" are far more serious than Clinton"s pecadilloes". Spying illegaly against the American people, infringing upon their freedom (Patriot Act), etc... plus what we do not know yet.

  • Wouldn't this be a great time

For someone to cook up a list of all the justifications used when they impeached our last (elected) president for ... what was it again? Lying about sex? There must be some great quotes from the republican side of the aisle that would support impeachment on these, far more serious, grounds.

  • It's time

Like a good citizen, I have dutifully used standard legal means to oppose the Bush administration on nearly all of it's policies and have patiently worked and waited for our system to correct his excesses. No more. Although impeachment is an extraordinary legal means of reining in the chief executive, the time has come to forcefully demand this action from our representatives, whether they are Republican or Democrat. There has been ample evidence for some time that the Bush administration is not trustworthy, but we have now returned to the worst excesses of the Nixon and Reagan administrations. I urge all of Salon's readers to begin demanding impeachment proceedings against Bush. I'm certainly going to even though I live in Texas where my Senators are rubber stamps for the administration and my congressperson was provided to me by Tom Delay.

We must demand accountability from the Bush administration and begin the long and painful process of reclaiming what is right and good about the United States. The foundations of our country are being destroyed while the world is rapidly losing all respect for us and our institutions. Now is the time for citizens of our country to take it back

  • yes to the "i" word

Despite many opportunities and temptations, I have not gotten seriously behind the idea of impeachment for this president until now. This absolutely tears it.

Let's not just leave it up to a few brave congresspeople to speak out and initiate the impeachment process. Salon, the Democrats, the bloggers and other alternative, independent media, and we the public must do our duty, be vocal, take the next step and get fully behind the movement.

A very simple place to start is to write your congressperson and Senators.

  • I-word

Let's get the I started so we can move on to the W -- war crimes.

They happened, so what are we going to do about it? How about the right thing.
