One thinks he knows where the truth is even though he still does not know where the roadside bombs are.

The other thinks his reelection relieves him of ever again having to face questions. That is so 2004.

  • Bush and the Military

    Dear Mr. Grieve:

Yours is the latest in a number of articles I've seen that underscore Bush's penchant for only appearing lately before military audiences. The implication seems to be this is a naturally-friendly constituency for him. But I think this is an oversimplification of the issue. Fact is, it would be a crime for a member of the military-cadet or otherwise-to indicate disrespect or disagreement with the Commander-in-Chief. In my view, Bush's use of the military as a captive audience is thus an even more cynical ploy than is being reported.

  • Bush's Military Backdrop

Thanks for your great reporting, as usual, Mr. Grieve. We will know it's all over for democracy, when we see Bush in uniform, with a pistol strapped to his hip, speaking in front of a huge gathering of uniforms--worn by the Boy Scouts of America. It's getting closer, so please keep trying to find out what he is saying, even if it turns out to be the same old thing. I don't want any sudden surprises.
