Limbaugh on Murtha: A "useful idiot"

Somebody forgot to give Rush the talking points.

The letters thread is now closed.

Who cares?

Limbaugh is an entertainer. He's not a journalist. He doesn't even pretend to be. He spins stories for profit, and that's all. While there's nothing wrong with that per se, it doesn't make his opinions worth listening to. In fact, there's no reason to think that what's coming out of his mouth has any relation at all to what he actually believes. Rush Limbaugh is an actor playing a role. Nothing more.

The same is true of Bill O'Reilly, Jon Stewart, Randi Rhodes, and the rest of them from across the spectrum. I happen to enjoy Jon Stewart's schtick better than, say, Bill O'Reilly's, but that doesn't mean either of them really has anything substantive to say most of the time.

I'm sorry to be such a spoilsport about this, but it just seems so bizarre that people get so worked up about the things that these entertainers say in the course of suckering people into listening to the advertisements that pay their salaries. It's all just a game.

As least he's useful. More than we can say about idiot gasbag Limbaugh.

Tell us about YOUR military pedigree, again, Rush. 'eh?

THE (Useful) Idiot

It's funny to hear a man who's made his career on exploiting news and information and built a steady stream of 15 minute moments accusing anyone of such a thing. Of course, the only people that will disregard his typical drivel are his faithful listeners, those that consistently believe he is a real source of information. And do we ever hope to change their minds anyway.

So I guess the question is, why do we take this man seriously? Like Bill O'Reilly and the rest, this is Rush's job, and he has to make outlandish and offensive remarks to keep it. The question is, should we busy responding or should we fight fire with fire?

What DID Murta Say??

"As soon as practicable:" Isn't "as soon as practicable" actually the administration's presumed schedule? The only other options would be bringing the troops home immediately -- hardly anyone thinks that's a good idea under the circumstances -- or what? Stay way longer than necessary (whatever that may mean)? Shows how just how demented the wingnuts in charge are, them and their Big Media courtiers too drunk on the Kool-Aid to see what they're doing

Limbaugh on Murtha: A "useful idiot"

One minute Dems say Rush is a talking head for the Republicans and then he proves them wrong by having a different message. So I guess they were wrong.

Jean Schmidt quoted a military man. She didn't call Murtha a coward. The military man's message given by Jean was to be taken as if the shoe fits... So once again the truth hurts the Dems and they address it by attacking the messenger.

What Murtha said is vague nonsense, even you admit it. Why do we pay representatives to talk to us in that way. Read between the lines, under, around. Just because my head is spinning doesn't mean the media can spin it also and get away with it.

I put almost everything I hear in the media to a test. I pretent the issue is between myself and my (the reporter or politician)child. Talk to me like an idiot, fog up the truth so its not so clear, or not directly address or answer me and you would get the back of my hand.(oh no that not P.C.) I mean you would get a "time out".

The truth is always simple and clear that's why NY Times, Wash Post, CNN, MSNBC are all tanking. Even us community college folks can see past elitist B.S. You better catch on before you join the ranks of the unemployed.

Limbaugh

A windbag drug addict with a national radio audience publicly insults a US congressman who also happens to be a Marine Corp veteran of 37 years - only in America. But then, chickenhawks do their best work hiding behind a microphone, newspaper column, or blog. I'd pay cash to see a face to face meeting between the two mentioned above, if only to see a close-up shot of Limbaugh's quivering lower lip and the beads of sweat running down his forehead.

Limbaugh on Murtha: A "useful idiot"

Everyone knows that Limbaugh is a "useless idiot". His ranting and lying should end because it is mindless and crass. Somebody ought to pull the plug on him now and put an entertaining person on the air.

Limbaugh on Murtha

I would rather be a "useful Idiot" than a useless idiot such as Limbaugh.

limbaugh

As opposed to Limbaugh, a useless idiot.

"Withdrawal" and current arguments

It's amazing to me that, in the maelstrom of the current arguments about the options facing us in Iraq, noone seems to be bringing up the possibility of using the UN as the ultimate mediating stabilization force.

If the USA, the Europeans and interested parties in the mid-East had sufficient motivation (which they manifestly do at this point) and they had adequate sense (which they manifestly do not at this point) then throwing their weight behind the only international institution capable of introducing stability into this lamentable situationwould be an option well worth examination.

Well aware of the suspicion that the Bush administration has of the UN, well aware that the oil-for-food program has cast a pall over it, well aware that national interests too often override rational solutions, well aware that it's representative was murdered there, it's still the only option.

Yes, long live Murtha, but you've got to still look over the horizen of US withdrawal.
