What's the opposite of coattails?

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll suggests the problems of the president have spread to his party.

The letters thread is now closed.

Coattails Questions

Perhaps the opposite of riding their coattails is tangled in their entrails. A bit gory, but vivid.

What's the oppostie of coattails?

How about "smote-tails?"

So what's the democrats plan?

They should just run under "We're not the Republicans" - though that was really W's campaign the first time around, before he discovered "vote for me or terrorists will kill you!"

It would be nice to see a coordinated national plan, like the Contract with America. Something popular, ringing with the "we're going to go pass these important bills, and if the President vetoes them, you'll know what he's about".

What - I can't think off the top of my head. But something that really sets the Dems apart, so they can say "Here's the goal - and we'll get rid of corruption while we're at it."

Opposite of coat-tails

How about "cement boots"?

Up or Down

As noted in Tim's article, this latest poll was taken BEFORE the bombings in Jordan yesterday. I, for one, can't help but wonder if Bush's approval ratings would have gone up or sunk lower if the poll had been taken just AFTER news of the bombings. How many Americans just starting to see George Bush for what he is would revert to their feeling that we'd be SAFER with George Bush running the show and how many will finally admit that George Bush's policies on the war in Iraq and on torture will ultimately result in more terrorist attacks, not less.

And if George Bush no longer has any coattails for Republicans to grab on to, let them start grabbing at his chest hair - then when you saw him grimacing at least you'd know why (and you'd smile :-).

If it's not coattails, it's...

Have you ever seen a man leaving the restroom with toilet paper dragging out of the back of his pants? Given the fecal policies that are dragging this administration's ratings into the sewer, I think tp-tails (or bog-roll tails) about sums it up.

What's the opposite of coattials?

What's the opposite of coattials?...HHhhmmmm let's see.

Coattails trail behind from the posterior, so the opposite would move in a counter direction. And as coattails suggest satorial refinement and all that is decent - it's opposite would have to suggest something more lowbred and tastless. So, let me see...an vulger item of clothing that rides "up" the ass.

I submit for your consideration Mr.Grieve that George W. Bush now wears a 'Dirty Thong' of which a growing number of Republicans have let go and are now desperately trying to wash their hands.

the opposite of coattails?

I suggest "shit-tails" but I assume that's not the sort of word that can make a regular appearance in War Room articles.

Coattails

Just a fleeting thought here, maybe the opposite is 'slime-trail'. Coat tails are scary especially when they are worn by someone who has questionable ethics and seems less than capable of intelligent analysis. We as a country cannot afford cronyism and friendship as the test used to select our leaders, nor do we need the religous right telling us how to govern.

It saddens me to be a Republican today. I feel I have been hoodwinked. 'Tis unlikely it will happen again.

Easy! The bag tied under the horse's tail to catch its shit. All Republicans had better get out of their shit bag asap!
