Mike Huckabee on "violence and terror" at home

The presidential hopeful spins Bhutto's assassination as a U.S. border-security issue.

If Huckabee wins the nod

Dems' arrogance will reach the sky, they will laugh themselves silly making fun of all the voters and they will lose.

security-

" if Wal-Mart can keep track of their Super Saver Center inventory, the government should be able to keep track of who's coming and going at borders. When Huckabee says, as he often does, that "it ought to be at least as difficult to get across an international border as it is to get on an airplane in our own hometown," he ignores the fact that the whole problem with illegal immigration is that immigrants manage to avoid any guards who could ask for their documents. "

Your statement proves Huckabee's point. There are walls, fences, and guards at every inch of airport security. Our borders have few to none in comparison.

Try to go beyond the preplanned tour area of any major corporation, or in state / federal government buildings. You are stopped and challenged. We do this to citizens in a 'free' country; and get 'defensive' when it is suggested that we tighten up border security.

Regardless of one's opinion on Bhutto and Pakistan, They understood the need for tight security. Note, it was not a close up murder. It was a bomb to take as many as possible in hopes of reaching the one intended.

Mike Huckabee

"commenting on the assassination of former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Huckabee said the U.S. must consider “what impact does it have on whether or not there’s going to be martial law continuing in Pakistan.” Martial law was lifted two weeks ago."

...this quote tells you sure as hell how dumb this nit wit is.

Gotta admit, he could no doubt fill George Bush's running shoes.

Mike Huckabee is an ignorant know-nothing, not unlike the entity who occupies the Oval office now. "Huck" THINKS he knows something and is in a position to prove it.

Mike Huckabee, like George Bush, is dangerous.

I would rather a little bit of terrorism in the US

It's humbling. And that's something we need. So what if there's an occasional bombing and whatnot. The odds of if it touching me personally are pretty damn slim. If that means we can drop this silliness of a 'security' nation, I'm all for it.

The Pakistan border threat

Huckabee makes a good point about our northern border with Mexico. If Pakistanis come here through that northern border we have with Mexico, they could try to continue martial law in regions near the border. Also, if a Pakistani opposition politician comes here to make an appearance, he or she could be in danger of falling and hitting his or her head on the sunroof of a car. We have a serious domestic crisis with the flow of Pakistanis into our borders and we should address it quickly, possibly by redesigning sun roofs of the type of vehicles rented by Pakistani politicians coming in over our norther border. If we cannot collect their liquids and gels, we can at least do better with sun roofs. I'm sure WalMart could.

don't you ever get depressed...

.. by having to give immense power to a person you wouldn't trust to babysit your kids, who doesn't seem to have paid attention to his geography lessons, who can't connect history and current affairs?

it's time to change the constitution, from elective monarchy to democracy. when the nation is ruled "by the people", maybe it will be ruled "for the people". clearly, that's not the case now.

Advice to Terrorists

I am likely committing a potential act of treason here, but I thought I'd summarize, in advance, the Homeland Security plans potential terrorists will have to circumvent if a Republican wins the White House.

1.Don't drive or walk across the border with Mexico. There will be a big wall there, as well as any number of volunteer "Minuteman" tracking down anyone trying to sneak across. I'd suggest flying in to any number of international airports, armed with a valid passport and visa. Also, be aware of how tricky airport security has become. For example, at Dulles, they ask to check your boarding pass and ID. when you enter the zig-zaggy line. Then, when you are lulled into a false sense of safety, they check it AGAIN at the end of the line!

2.Make sure the guy who sets the timer on the suitcase nuclear bomb doesn't get caught. This is important, because the sitting Republican President will authorize severe torture and he will blab the deactivation code in the nick of time, allowing the digital timer to count down only to 00:00:07 before the guy from "24" shuts it down.

Here are further suggestions from my own experience.

1.Don't hide anything in full toothpaste tubes. I recently had a brand-new tube of Arm And Hammer Peroxicare toothpaste confiscated at New York La Guardia because it was over 3 ounces.

2.Don't make travel plans when there are potential flight delays. Earlier this year I was popped for extra security because my airplane was delayed due to mechanical problems and I was put on a later connecting flight (my flight was "changed", you see). At the time, I was walking with a cane, recovering from serious injuries. At the end of my extra screening I commented that the TSA had just profiled a middle-aged, crippled, white man. For that matter, don't travel disguised as middle-aged, crippled white men if you want to avoid trouble.

My best advice is to not commit acts of terror at all. Most American people are nice folks, a bit brainwashed, of course, over the past six years, by their elected and non-elected "leaders", but not really evil or Satanic at all. The most fiendish thing you all could do would be to direct your considerable energies towards modernizing your own countries and societies. I know that being a member of Al Queda ("The Base") seemed cool once, but this isn't the 80s anymore. Hey! Look what the Mormans did with Utah!
