    Huckabee's remarks on 12/10

Huckabee, in remarks made today, stood by his remarks about homosexuality, but clarified his meaning. Speaking about homosexuality being a "sinful lifestyle", he defined sinning as "falling short of the mark" and saying that we ALL do it. He stated that we should treat homosexual people with respect, even though he believes their homosexuality is sinful. You may disagree, but his is a far more tolerant view than the Falwell-Rove view.

His AIDS comments were, obviously, off the mark. However, he did raise some valid points. AIDS was treated differently than other epidemics. Personal privacy and "civil rights" WERE given precedence over public health. Did people die because we protected others from discrimination? Probably.

There is no way I'd vote for Huckabee, but let's keep things in perspective.
