One can only hope
Edwards/Obama 08
-
Or...
Obama/Edwards 08!
Edwards/Obama 08 would be fine too.
-
I'll take either one...
I just think Obama as VP has the best chance of winning.

Trial lawyer politics
Actually, political campaigns look like hard science compared to what Edwards did in courtrooms. In politics, Edwards will have to explain, to skeptical experts (in the form of opposition research teams and an inquiring press), what he wants to do in terms of health care spending, taxes, military affairs, tort reform, etc.
In his malpractice trials in North Carolina, Edwards was able to parlay phony expert opinion testimony into big verdicts. And became a millionaire in the process. You can't do that in a Presidential campaign.
I always wonder about all of the high-profile Republican vitriol aimed at Hillary, because Edwards is by far the most loathsome of the Democrats.
-
Hey, E-Man is back!
And I mean not the "loathsome" Edwards, but Elephantman! Hey, Chief, I'm sure you have facts and proof about all those "phony" expert witnesses Edwards used to snow all those gullible hick jurors. You know, the good solid everyday Murcans you wingers say you respect so much. Plus you left out the part where the corporate defense experts were the soul of truth-seeking honesty.
-
Works for Me
If Elephantman (Homo loxodonta dippus) thinks Edwards is 'loathsome', then I like him!
-
Wasn't the Elephantman horribly disfigured...
...and exploited by his handler for financial gain and then, out of his own pain and shame, he took his own life?
Sounds like a storyline to emulate!
Maybe your skeleton will end up in Michael Jackson's closet if your lucky!

Not new
Edwards's "Hillary/Barack/I will be fine" line is not impromptu, and it's not new. He's used it in at least one debate, and I've heard it more than once here in Iowa. The "plain talk" gets stale after you've heard it several times. After awhile, "authentic" just becomes "loud".

tangerine. A apolitical comment.
It is so fun to eat slowly a orange tangerine. It's so fragrant, juicy, squirts, half-sour, and 25% sweet.
It is 100% delicious and needs to be savored by eating as slowly as possible. Gads do I feel like a tangerine. It's a great breath freshener. I love the peels and use them as a pick-up truck deodorizer. And seriously, thanks.
My truck's inside do smell like a hippo or a elephant.

Elephantman is Right!
In his malpractice trials in North Carolina, Edwards was able to parlay phony expert opinion testimony into big verdicts. And became a millionaire in the process. You can't do that in a Presidential campaign.
Edwards went after companies!
C'mon! What corporation EVER did anything illegal or immoral just to make a fast buck? Can any of us come up with even one example of a company ever doing anything illegal just to make money? No! No company in America has ever hurt the public. Ever!
In the Republican Religion once you become a corporation nothing you do is ever immoral or illegal.
It's physically impossible. You instantly become a saint with wings and a harp and go around hugging workers and throwing bundles of cash at them! You cry yourself to sleep every night worrying if your workers are happy and...and keeping giving them more money and more benefits! Profits be damned!
Which is why Elephantman is shocked that someone (anyone!) would dare to suggest that Enron or Adelphia or Worldcom or any saintly corporation would ever try to hurt the public!
My god! What kind of monster is this Edwards fellow that he would attack a saintly coporation that is utterly incapable of doing evil?
(hee hee. sorry e-man. its just too easy.)

More for Edwards
So many of us are for Edwards, and the MSM just doesn't like it. I was stuck watching The Situation Room on CNN yesterday, and I couldn't believe the full clips they showed of Hillary, Mitt, Barack, Rudy, but only SOUNDLESS FOOTAGE of Edwards for 15 seconds! The bias is soooo obvious now. And, it's been pretty bad on this site, too. Nice to see a favorable article about Edwards on Salon, finally.
Re: the comment by another poster about that Edwards' line not being unique ("We'll all be fine"): you missed the point. He was talking about the response to a question--in which Edwards criticized the Democratic party, and folded in that line amid other spontaneous remarks....
And by the way, if you've never been involved in a campaign, EVERYONE REPEATS THEMSELVES after awhile. The better ones paraphrase their main points creatively, to provide a sheen of freshness. It's an art to sound even slightly spontaneous after you've been asked the same questions two hundred times....

Edwards' stock-in-trade wasn't in suing corporations like Enron or Adelphia; Edwards' specialty was in suing North Carolina obstetricians.
You all have been listneing to one too many Edwards class-warfare speeches.
-
Edwards is the One
Let's face it folks; John Edwards is the Democratic Party's only chance of regaining the White House. We can all bury our heads in the sand and try to convince ourselves that the country will elect an African-American or a woman, but in the privacy of the voting booth, we won't. We will elect another white man. Stop seeing the world as you wish it were and face reality. It's John Edwards or another Republican administration. Why do you think the Republicans are attacking Clinton? They want us to think she is the one they fear. They hope that by dismissing Edwards as a "trial lawyer who gets $400 haircuts" they can diminish him to irrelevance. Let's hope it doesn't work.
-
So What?
"Edwards' stock-in-trade wasn't in suing corporations like Enron or Adelphia; Edwards' specialty was in suing North Carolina obstetricians."
I say: SO WHAT?
The tort system was developed as a means for people who are wronged to seek redress against the perpetrators. Are doctors supposed to be immune from this process?
John Edwards represented his clients to the best of his ability using the only legal system available. Rest assured his opponents retained high-powered firms with deeper resources than he had, and if they couldn't prove their case, then maybe there was a high degree of culpability by the practitioner.
Oft-maligned, the tort system does provide an essential function in our society to those least able to defend themselves. Someday you (or someone you know) may be in need of a good trial lawyer.
