Rudy's judicial bargain

Before a packed crowd of conservative legal minds, Rudy Giuliani promises to nominate the right kind of judges.

The letters thread is now closed.

Which 10 Commandments, Rudy?

The Jewish ones, the Protestant Christian ones, or the Roman Catholic ones?

They are different you know.

Or perhaps you don't...

Most people aren't aware the Jews parse the Hebrew text differently from the Protestants and so have a slightly different set of commandments.

And then the Roman Catholics go and actually edit the biblical text to remove the commandment forbidding "graven images" and then divide the one about covetousness into separate commands so that they can say that they have "10" Commandments even though they eliminated one of the real, original commandments...

I'm sorry that I don't know about the Orthodox Churches; they might go along with any of the three options; or even have yet another set.

So, Rudy... Whose religion are you planning on endorsing?

Yet another reason for the separation of church and state.

Oh well...

Compare their rallies with the Democrats'

He says what he believes and wants to say. The Republicans may be crazy and evil, but they stand proud for their nonsense.

From the Democrats we're getting stories about Clinton's pearls and diamonds and whether they're picking on each other.

Maybe this stuff is controlled by the media, but good Lord, Dems, stand for something and stand proudly. Make noise about what you'll do to run this messed up country.

Instant Disqualification

Why not appoint judges that are neither conservative or liberal. That way, justice is served.

Our present system is broken - each president tries to tilt the courts towards one ideology or another.

Ideology is not truth and ideology does not provide an unbiased court.

A Third Bush Term

I shudder to think that Giuliani could be President. It would be like having Bush in for a third term. He's similarly averse to compromise, has absolutist views regarding executive power, and is just as disposed to fear-mongering as Dubya (as Joe Biden said, every other sentence out of his mouth has 'a noun, a verb, and 9/11'

Rudy's one overriding "value"...

..Is his ambition. The man would pimp his own mother for the presidency.

In fact, we saw him whore-out the Constitution when he pandered to the Federalist Society -- a subversive group easily qualifying as a "domestic enemy" as enunciated in the presidential oath of office.

We used to laugh at right-wing kooks like the John Birch Society. Now they're calling the shots in the Republican Party and the Bush regime.

Rudy

What is absurd is why the term "moderate" is used in connection with this guy. His deal with "Reverend" Pat alone is enough to cause worry much less his other connections and pronouncements on such things as torture and authority, all well documented. He also has terrible taste in dresses.

Neo Con Prayer:Thank God for Blindness!

Rudy the Hypocrite!

Why is it that when John McCain kissed Jerry Falwell's ring he was revealed all over the news and entertainment media as a hypocrite who could no longer be seen as a straight talker, yet when Rudy kissed Pat Robertson's ring and pledges to appoint right-wing judges, after years of claiming to be a liberal, no one makes an issue of it?

The main reason is so few people really know his past as he has never been on the national stage. The people who know him need to start calling him out.

Interestingly, while Mitt Romney hasn't kissed any evangelical rings yet, he too has shifted his views from liberal to the far-right to win the nomination.

Democrats often ask why the GOP candidates state outrageous views to win their nomination process while Democrats seem more delicate in their policy statement. The reality is that McCain and Romney have been called out for their waffling and flip-flops, and now Rudy needs to be held accountable for his complete change of political identity too.

Indeed, Democrats can't wait until Rudy is the nominee to take him on. Rudy has already attacked Hillary and Joe Biden has attacked Rudy on his focus on 9/11 but now it is time for Hillary, Obama, Biden and anyone else who really wants to be the Democratic nominee to show how tough they can be on the GOP nominee by proving it now. They need to go after Rudy, McCain and Romney on their political make-overs.

First, it will really help focus the minds of Democrats on who would be our best nominee and could shake up the race. So far, Rudy has attacked Hillary but she has not attacked back. I think that makes her look weak. She has shown she can throw out lines like mud-slinging to try to distract policy debates within the party but I have to wonder if that will really slow down Rudy or his crowd.

As well, people are paying attention now but will ignore this race again after the nominees are chosen until the conventions and then the general election debates in mid-to-late September of '08. We need to create an impression in the minds of the public as to who these GOP nominees are now before we get to the final days.

The time to find out who the best Democratic candidate is and to frame the general election is now!

RUDY THE REPTAILIAN

This man has a reptilian mind and curious enough even looks like a reptile.... he only has one

thing in mind and that is to institute a police state, lock up all the african americans and little ole lady groups that voted democrat. The good ole boy and rich

neocons and corporations will be rewarded with more contracts and more wealth, the corruption will be at levels we could never imagined and the middle class will go PUFF along with a woman's right to privacy.... Its amusing to me how in the 50's their was this FEAR of a the communist infiltrating our government. HELLO the day has arrived FOLKS.....

A Rudy Juliani presidency will ensure a communist state in our country. The best part

will be when the Religious Right find out they have been duped and they find themselves

not getting what he had promised to get them to vote for him.... and it will be their just

desert for only caring for their agenda and not caring for all the people. I dont know

how long it is going to take for humankind in the Americas to realize when you care for

all the people you have a better society to grow up in instead of a country that is just

for the rich and powerful and for those that have an agenda that says God has chosen

us as the ones that has the right to impose our will onto others.....

I am sure of one thing if Rudy gets the nomination he will take this country

down to places it has never been and that just may be the lesson we need to wake

up humankind to what the right values are in our society... God bless all the hard

working caring people in this country.... I just hang on to the saying from the bible"

THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH.....
