Requiring letters registration has cut down on trolls and drive-by insults, but lately we're seeing more complaints about "anonymous" writers.

I appreciate the letters of THOUGHTFUL readers very much, and I enjoy making my own contributions every now and then. I'm a teacher, and I often desire to keep my personal opinions anonymous, so I sometimes choose to post anonymously. But I REALLY appreciate the responses to this blog of others who are sensitive to the dysfunctional communication dynamic that can result when it feels like you don't have a handle on who your audience is. Call me Cowardly Anonymous #101 and I'll happily retain that identity throughout the thread.
