Put the writer's name first at the top right above or below the subject line
That way it will be faster and easier to ignore the posts of those that you know you don't want to read after bad experiences with them before. No more getting blindsided a paragraph in and then realizing Oh yeah, it's (fill in the blank again), ugh, my hands feel dirty and I need to burn some sage.
Also, I agree that being able to post anonymously adds to the incivility of the entire thread. The only time I posted anonymously was because I wanted to say something mean to someone because I was in a bad mood and just felt like being nasty. If I hadn't had that option, I never would have had the nerve to behave so badly in a public place.
So I have self regulated myself and will not choose that option for any reason. I am already using a very bland non-name anyway. Which is anonymous enough.
I have been very disturbed by the way that some of us feel that they can say anything they want, as if civility were extinct. What would happen if we spoke this way to people face to face?
Well we wouldn't.
I have almost given up my subscription several times because I have felt so appalled to be part of a group that allows members or visitors to degrade the entire Voice into such wretched and stupid ugliness.
