Why is Palin lying about state ethics probes?

She says Alaska spent "millions" probing "frivolous" issues. The cost was far less and some complaints were serious

Better prattling through chemistry

I wonder if somebody besides me thinks that she also shares some characteristics of meth aficionados [tweakers]: it is not an impossibility, given what we already know about the drug culture, especially meth, in the Mat-Su Valley. Anyone who has had first-hand experience with tweakers should know that rambling, incoherent, manic, non-stop speech is a common sign. Narcissism is a mild term for what happens to the sense of self.

I like to watch them in checkout lines: fidgety, looking around, especially behind them. Was told in the Sixties by a local expert that the Nazis invented it for the Luftwaffe during the bombing of Britain. It does give one a sense of God-like power...until the crash. We also know that pilots were given "white pills" during Nam.

Do I have an attitude? You bet; I have had cameras, guns, tools stolen several times by tweakers who befriended me. Tweak burns out their souls and they think that they deserve to steal and lie. I have a personal theory about tweak [and coke, too]: even when one quits, the behaviors just might continue.

Think about it, Darlins. Just read a post by a man who had been a kid in Alaska some time ago; one of the main reasons he left was the druggin.

Am I by myself? Is this just too risky a question to explore?

I begged for weeks on the ADN blog for someone to look into the house deal. Finally, it is coming out and guess who has brought it on? But she is getting media attention and must be happy no matter what.

Sarah to world: "Show me the money!"

According to some members of the Alaskan state legislature, Palin had a very short attention span and would often rapidly lose interest in the discussions at meetings taking place on the various issues affecting the state. She seemed to lack the self-discipline necessary to get through the numerous mundanities required of the Governor.

She was already having a number of confrontations with the legislative body on various contentious appointments that she had made. And once she lost support of many of the Republican legislators over her refusal to accept the federal stimulus funding, she decided that being Governor just wasn't any fun anymore. Rather than get another political black eye and watch her declining public support plummet further, she decided to bail on her constituency and seek greener (as in $$) pastures in the lower 48.

Sarah Palin doesn't want to be a serious politician. She only wants to play one on T.V.

@libertyaintfree

You are very, very confused. If you actually read what you wrote, you'd see your contradictions.

You claim that we're in trouble because we listened to progressives, yet you also say that both parties are beholden to Big Business and don't bother to help the poor. Then you say it's because they helped the poor that we're in trouble.

Huh?

Please make up your little mind.

Progressive philosophy and policy ideas have not been embraced by either party for a long time. That's why we're in this mess. Because the leaders of both parties have been practicing the thoroughly discredited and very stupid ideas of Reagan Republicans. Both parties have been practicing "conservative" economics since at least 1980, with rare but slight shifts toward the middle -- then back to the right.

Never progressive. We haven't seen progressive economic policies in place since the 60s and very early 70s.

Deregulation, subsidies and tax cuts for the rich, and trickle down economics in general have been the favored way to go for more than three decades. Letting corporate America run wild. Bubble and burst. Bubble and burst. No investments in people or our future. Everything is about profit, profit, and more profit. Which is why the gap between the rich and poor and between the rich and the middle keeps growing.

If we had invested in America, kept jobs here, stopped rewarding companies that outsource, stopped cutting corporate taxes -- the GAO found that 2/3rds paid zero taxes in the last decade . . . . If we had NOT invaded Iraq . . . In short, if we had actually implemented progressive policies, rather than cling to stupid conservative policies, we wouldn't be in this mess.

It's not the fault of the poor or minorities. It's the fault of the financial elite. Period. End of story.

Let it go, Joan

This is getting like the Michael Jackson overkill. This Palin bashing may last through August as August is the slow news month.

C'mon Joan. You have more talent, expertise and imagination than you are exhibiting.

Can't get through the first page...ever.

I swear, when I read Walsh, Paglia, or Broadsheet, I can't get through the first page of comments following the articles. I usually have to go for a walk to calm down after exposing myself to so much ignorance. As if the articles aren't bad enough, the follow up comments are much worse. I now read with an empty stomach, never after dinner. I hope they're payin' Glen Greenwald some hellacious moolah...he's all Salon's got to hold this cyber-rag together. It's like reading the New York Post or one of those goofy British tabloids with their Socialist garble mixed with a little sleaze (provided by Broadsheet in this case, ie. condoning Graig's list sex trade as a viable alternative to gainful employment) Whew!! I'm going for a walk... and by the way, the Socialist/Marxist agenda will not be flying its flag in America, so you guys "got" just shy of four years to do your damage, then the cleanup crew will come to sweep up the mess you left of the Constitution, Bill of Rights and personal liberty. I'm not talking about the Palins or McCains, etc, I talking about those Americans who have been thinking about actual solutions, and the TRUE leaders who will represent us in engaging those solutions. So, keep sputtering and wasting time.. you're doing the rest of us a favor. Palin? Who's Palin??
