I can not help but gag every time I come to your website and see yet another Palin article. I for one despise the type of politics that this woman practices. I can not for the life of me figure out why everyone has to pay so much attention to this story. What has she done as a positive for this country? This is all a circus (more that usual). If you ignore her she will go away but she is resilient and knows how to create buzz. She would serve better as an Ad Exec for television. I just wish that some websites that I enjoy to read because of the objective journalism to ignore everything this woman does.
I think the more important question is:
Why do you care so much about Sarah Palin anyways?
There a thousand other crooked, lying, hypocrite politicians out there, from BOTH parties, yet you insist on focusing on her.
She's not a threat, if she were to be the candidate for the Republicans in 2012, it would guarantee an Obama win.
So really, WHY do you care so much about her?
Everything about Sarah Palin is fishy, ever since she ran with McCain for VP.
The way she runs Alaska, the way she conducts her issues, even down to the way she runs her family. God only knows how she'd a ran our country. Its all fishy.
If your question for her resigning from Governorship is fishy, yes, you hit the hail on the nead.
"Folklore has it that the Palins return to the exact spot where they were born to spawn, tracking studies have shown this to be true but the nature of how this memory works has long been debated."
you believe that a lying, vacuous, attempted defrauder quitter like Palin is your vehicle to change the establishment status quo?
Lord help you.
Wrong again! Joan has not gotten any "facts" wrong. She, along with other jounalists, have simply poked holes in Palin's supposed reasons for stepping down. Ethics cases against her were not costing the state "millions." This is stated by Palin's own spokesperson. Ergo, Palin is LYING. Wiggle all you want but the numbers don't add up.
At least most of them don't. They truly believe that they are not two-faced liars, that they are following the "rules" they set for others, and that they have the right to set those rules. That's why there are so many of them, especially in government. It's a basic inability to look inward and judge yourself before judging others.
Palin is arrogant about her ignorance.
This does not mean you can write her off. I have personally noticed there are some very large companies who have similar problems when it comes to managing their business. They succeed in spite of themselves with amazing PR. They even dominate.
You just have to make more money then you spend. It doesn't matter at the end of the day how much you wasted with bad decisions.
Palin may just do it...
I'm not a fan, but I have to admit, I've never seen anyone like her...
I don't think this is true at all. Joan Walsh knows Gavin Newsom, who poses tragically and complains about the woe and burdens of his job in exactly the same self-aggrandizing way.
Newsom is more articulate and less of a crook, but the basic phenomenon that has Joan Walsh apparently so astonished is identical.
Any two-bit chamber of commerce has even more of the same type. They're everywhere. The only thing that distinguishes Palin is that her party, desperate for a young(ish) maternal figurehead, is willing to overlook virtually everything about her in the course of promoting her to lead their parade.
At least they have an excuse for paying her so much fawning attention. What is the rest of the mainstream press's excuse?
Saturday Night Live needs a summer edition because Sarah Palin is the gift that keeps on giving. Considering how President Obama is mishandling the economy and if he fails to deliver true health care reform, he will be a one-term president unless the Republicans give the Democrats Sarah Palin on a silver plate.
Read this letter thread for evidence of that.
Numerous letter writers have stated that Governor Sarah Palin is a crook, a defrauder, and on, and on.
Yet what have the ethics investigations actually found?
Hey, when hate is motivating you, facts don't really matter, do they?
Joan, you make the world a worse place when you argue against Sarah Palin the way that you do.
Rather than oppose her policy positions (which are rarely discussed among the know-it-alls here at salon), you go for the jugular, to feed your hatred.
. . . I'll give you this though, it's good to see that you dropped the sexist attacks. Did you finally realize the hypocrisy in that smear tactic? . . . any apologies forthcoming?
And why is so much of the media letting her get away with it?
It's one of those mysteries, why the media let some people off the hook and not others.
I'm still flabbergasted about how the US media portrayed Mikhail Khodorkovsky as a poor helpless victim of political repression, while the security chief of his former company Yukos Oil was being sentenced to life in prison for hiring contract killers and committing corporate homicides.
The list of victims of Yukos includes a female executive who tried to leave the company, a German business partner seeking to back out of a deal, and the mayor of Nefteyugansk, who presented the company with a tax bill in an attempt to get the company to clean up the environmental damage from their operations in his region.
I still don't understand why the American media -- including Salon actually -- allowed the head of Yukos to play the innocent victim.
If you can figure out why Salon writers never mentioned Yukos' record of corporate homicides when reporting on Khodorkovsky, then you might get some insight into why much of the media are failing to debunk Sarah Palin's cries of victimhood.
I don't know how to explain these things.
I was genuinely shocked by American reporting on Khodorkovsky, especially by Salon.
So now it's your turn to be shocked.
I hope you find some answers.
How can we make good decisions about people without accurate information?
