Why is Palin lying about state ethics probes?

She says Alaska spent "millions" probing "frivolous" issues. The cost was far less and some complaints were serious

ReaderReader...

"2. Yes, Harry was well read. Sarah Palin says she is a voracious reader. Before you laugh, I would ask: okay, let's see the book list. She has three years before the voting starts in Iowa. At some point, a voter can ask her about this, and let's all wait for the answer."

I find it absolutely astounding to keep hearing your argument that Sarah Palin just needs to read a few books and study up on policy issues, and in three years – voila – she will be ready for primetime. You conveniently ignore two things:

1) In what sane universe do you select a candidate, and then try to get her qualified for the office to which she aspires? Aren't those little things like, I don’t know, being capable, being qualified, supposed to be fundamental to the candidacy at hand?

2) Palin herself: you can’t fix that kind of stupid. That's because she is not simply ignorant, she is willfully ignorant. She is the supreme anti-intellectual and wears her uninformed stupidity as a badge of honor. So may I suggest that while you are "waiting for your answer" in the next three years, you don’t also hold your breath.

I actually felt pity for Ron...

I thought you did a great job on Hardball last night; althought, R. Christie had a pretty indefensible argument to make. (I noticed how he eagerly jumped at the opportunity to chastize Bill Clinton - the typical pundit movement of changing the subect to one that is more comfortable!)

Regarding your point about Palin's taking the national media, whom she lambasted for victimize her and her family, on her family's fishing trip, I didn't feel that such on move by her was a particular surprise. She is as much a faux celebrity as Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, or any one of the vapid "characters" from The Hills. For as much as she condemns the national media, Palin craves the attention - I don't believe she can live without it. Oscar Wilde's comment about celebrity aptly applies here: "The only thing worse than everyone talking about you is no one talking about you."

This is very important. I hear from a number of her supporters that she just needs time to bone up before the next election. This really seems to put the cart before the horse. There are plenty of people out there, left and right, with a command of the issues. It boggles my mind that people would rather back someone who might get around to learning them eventually.

OT for a moment

Has anyone checked out the WSJ article that currently tops salon's "5 Things"???

The CIA lies to congress, and has done so repeatedly since 2001. According to CIA Director Leon Panetta.

I await Newt Gingrich's apology to Speaker Pelosi .....

Conservative Mindset?

As I have continued to say time and time again the conservative mindset continues to completely baffle me! We have a woman here who has proven not to be remotely competent but the adoration from the religious nuts continues. I am certain given a chance they would put her in the office of President and be happy with her ignorance. That appears to be all they are concerned about someone's lack of intelligence. I don't know if they feel more comfortable with a person who doesn't know the country doesn't have a 'Department of Law' or her down home folksy charm really turns them on. But, that would terrify me. I would agree that Palin probably is popular with her base (as long as she is against abortion, gays and promiscuity they will continue to admire her). They still don't see what was wrong with George W Bush! As long as that type of people dominate the Republican Party I won't consider voting for one of them.

Palin next gig

Joan,

Here’s a list of ten great job offers Palin will consider:

1) Dye her hair shiny blonde and replace Gretta on FIX news ( the problem with this job is she has to live in liberal, un-american, elite NYC)

2) Join Victoria Secret and Federick’s of Hollywood as the chief Spokeswoman in charge of the annual lingerie show.

3) Replace Susan Lucci as the new diva on "All My Children”

4) Replace Billy Mays as the new pitchwoman for silly products.

5) Make commercials for oil companies “ drill baby drill”

6) Start a bounty hunter/reality TV show for domestic terrorists.

7) Write a non-fiction book on how to hunt wolves from the air.

8) Go on the speakers circuits and charge $250k/speech on how to use your looks, smiles, and winks to make heck-of-living.

9) Form a joint venture with Dick Cheney peddling advanced torture techniques.

10) Pose for Hustler Magazine and make a cool 5 mil.

Who the damned hell do you think you are telling him not to hold his breath for three years? He don't need no advice about breathing from no librul. He'll hold his breath for as God-damn long as it God-damn well pleases him. And if he wishes to hold it for three years or even longer he damned well will because its a free country and you or no other terrorist sympathiser can ever take that freedom away from him.

@NotOrbitBoy

What lies has Joan Walsh stated? Please provide back up for your assertions.

@London Lad

Not only that but readerx2 will also provide you with literary, historical, and Hollywood references showing you why it is advantageous to both him and Sarah Palin if he does manage to hold his breath for 3 years. He will point out (with great eloquence) fictional characters, defunct European royalty, aging atheletes, etc. who did the exact same thing and experienced a favorable outcome. So there. Also. Too. Wink, wink.
