Odd Palin lawyer letter follows odd Palin speech

Don't peddle "Housegate" rumors, lawyer tells media, which sparks more "Housegate" stories, naturally

heads up to the other night owls

Roy's posted his Village Voice round-up on - what else - the Palin speech reaction from rightwingers.

http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/archives/exploring_the_r/

I don't think that'll turn into a link. Anyway, if you thought our guys were delusional, his guys will make them seem downright perceptive.

dear readerreader - and virtue too -

- your final word on princesses and that we should visit south Bavaria, and see how they revere their favorite Wittelsbach, Elizabeth - touched my heart - because I was just in Munich this weekend and everybody always tells me how much I look like Sissi (Elizabeth) -

So you should 'pull for me too - (whatever I do):

- and after you have watched the iron boobs - don't you think I'm WAY hotter than Sarah?

(at least I'm blond!)

I'd bet that it's a setup.

1) She's not that stupid. Not the sharpest marble in the bag, but not stupid.

2) Republicans work in either despot mode or victim mode. Not much in between. There's not a lot for a despot to do in Alaska in winter. She can be a victim anywhere.

3) The media is lazy and bored. They aren't going to do a lot of fact checking.

If she can generate a fake scandal, she can milk it for years. "I was totally innocent and the media was just beastly to me. Wahhh!!!" I'm serious; she could run with that for years.

I'll bet you a nickel, Joan, that this is a setup.

@Virtue001: "Leave Sarah Alone!" video

Do you engage in any other activities than lurking here, making post after post in response to crticism and jabs at your entries? Seriously, are you a shut-in? In a wheelchair? Incarcerated? A demented, Palin-smitten cat-lady with DSL and agoraphobia (everyone else here seems convinced you're a man, but I heartily suspect otherwise)? I have a suggestion for you: Make a hysterical, tearful "Leave Sarah Alone!" video, like that makeup-wearing, gay emo kid with the sheet over his head did for Britney and post it on YouTube. That'll really teach Joan, the staff of Salon and the rest of us a much-needed lesson for picking on girls. It may even get you the gig as producer for Sarah's FUX News program. Waaaah!

democrats I know don't fear Palin

they fear the stupidity of her devoted followers.

...Because her devoted followers remind them of Sinclair Lewis' statement about the way in which fascism would come to America... holding a bible, waving an American flag.

Looking at her political career, Palin is a vindictive and poorly informed person - the kind who attains power and uses it for personal payback. She is reminiscent of Dubya in this way - of the recent Dubya administration that used the office of the executive to attack political enemies by abuses of power in the judiciary, for instance, in a breathtakingly unethical manner.

like Dubya, Palin is a good attack dog but does not indicate the ability to actually govern effectively. Dubya was effective when he was engaging in dirty tricks with Rove. But when the time came to actually govern, Dubya was a mere Howdy Doody to Cheney's puppet master.

if Palin attains more power, this will be her role as well.

This is why Kristol likes her - because he sees that she is an intellectual dullard with a chip on her shoulder toward those who can actually analyze complicated world issues, scientific issues, economic issues... a person who can be easily manipulated because of her hatred toward those who are, in fact, better able to govern, and one who also appeals to the "I'd like to have a beer with that person" voter.

like Dubya, Palin seems to be good at political fighting but incapable of actually carrying out the duties of the office to which she aspired. She's worse than Dubya. At least he honored his oath of office as governor and carried out his duties till the end of his term.

like Dubya, her intellectual incuriousness is a sign of a small mind, a person who should not have power because such people do not understand enough about the world to be capable leaders.

Palin's offenses are smaller-time, as is the state from which she hails. But the pattern of abuse is there, starting with her attempts to fire a librarian who refused to censor a book that Palin thought was too compassionate toward homosexuals. Palin's logic was that her religion hates homosexuals; therefore, the library should not allow an opposing viewpoint to this hatred.

Palin and her daughter refused to act responsibly and use birth control and got pregnant. Therefore, all young women, apparently, should not have access to safe and affordable birth control or access to information about how to prevent pregnancy before someone is ready to start a family. Women who are raped should have to pay for the medical kits that provide evidence against rapists.

Rather than move toward a future of mixed energy and a policy that is forward-looking in regard to natural resources and environmental responsibility, Palin offers "drill baby drill."

Sound bites rather than sound policy.

That's Palin.

Poor readerreader. You seem to be stuck in time when the peasants were pacified and the negroes sang lovely spirituals in their slave cabins at night because they were happy with their lot and the King of England was admired because an accident of birth gave him power and privileges he had not earned. Ah, such useless myths. But aren't they pretty for those who do not have to suffer from the reality of them. Lots of young girls idolize the Jonas Brothers, too, but that does not make them good candidates for leaders of the most powerful nation on earth - and those who would put them in this position demonstrate an utter lack of seriousness as mature adults.

@ScepticalGeek

Well, sure, but how does this actually help her? How does this stunt make her seem presidential in anyone's eyes (besides readereader)?

What would she do as President if, say, Kim Jung Il mocked her in a press statement? Or if an Iranian president told the UN she was the whore of Babylon, and that she was illegally impeding Iran's progress as a nation? What if Hugo Chavez called her a name, and told the world the US was a rogue nation?

Quit??

It hardly inspires confidence.
