The media circus around her has just begun. What a weird, warped narcissistic person she is . . . and the way she plays the media to draw attention to herself is brilliant in its own twisted way.

If she can't handle the criticism she has been getting, she wouldn't last five minutes as President. If McCain had won and died, she certainly would have had to leave things for her VP, who of course would have been her logical choice, Glenn Beck. We would then be facing the specter of the first President to openly weep at the Inauguration. Whew.

The only reason Sarah Palin gets any attention is that she was picked in a desperation move to be the running mate of an extremely mediocre presidential candidate. She was in over her head in the city council of Wasilla, and completely above her station as governor of Alaska. This became clear when she was interviewed during last fall's campaign.

Palin's ethical and personal problems have been catching up with her lately, and her performance as governor has been attracting increased scrutiny. She may well have been facing impeachment.

So, on to other things. Palin is supposedly writing a book, which may or may not make her rich. Such is the nature of the whims of fortune. The times, they are indeed strange.

Well, the ethics complaints and the $500K legal bill are old news. She's had that albatross round her neck for quite a while; doesn't explain today's timing. Ditto on her objections to the stimulus money. The Vanity Fair article may have brought something to a head between Sarah and the GOP but it didn't cause this resignation.

Seems to me the crux might lie in Alaskan law that prohibits a governor from holding any outside employment. Maybe someone's made her an offer with sufficient $$ and media clout? That rumored TV show perhaps? Whatever it is, the woman who chafes as a team player, will surely not have to answer to the McCain Campaign, the RNC, her state legislators, or the Republican machine anymore.

Sarah Palin now has nothing to run on. She's officially shredded her record by quitting the moment the job got tough.
