why is salon so filled with venomous posts? why are salon readers opposed to civil conversations about different sides of a situation? do you have anything to do with that? i am just wondering because it feels destructive to me.

Wow -- McCaskill -- I knew you had low self-esteem based on your attacks of Hillary -- but wow -- that's lower than even I had imagined! No wonder you have acted the way you have toward Obama...licking his feet and all...you are a female doormat. Well that says a lot.

What happened in this writer's life to make her such a hateful person? Honey you are quite the c***.Wonder how long this post lasts before deleted. Last time I called her a c***, it took about 5-10 minutes.
Wow -- I could try to save my post by saying something different, but there is no other word for Paglia. You are the only woman I have every encountered in person or text that warrants it...
Please get some help.

Go Kerry. Go Gore. Go Dean. Go Obama. Go Gary. You are all idiots. This kind of thinking got us Bush for 8 years. Get a life and look at the polls and think again. What an arrogant, elitist loser...not the direction the Democrats need to head into at the moment.
You sniveling, whiny narcissist. The only people who care what you think are losers and fools. The rest of America - the majority - is tired of you.
Yes.
Even Readerreader did, but she/he is in denial.
"At around noon on 3 July, a distraught blogger called and said his Governor had run away. Officer Wooten was dispatched to investigate. Upon arriving at the scene, he contacted one S. Parnell. After discussing evidence with Mr. Parnell, Officer Wooten concluded that indeed, no governor was present. Investigation continues."
This was a prepared speech, posted word for word on her website, and read from a portable mobile teleprompter. Paul Begala's take at HuffPo on her posted text is priceless.
In the full CNN/KTUU video you can see a man covered by a blanket in the bottom of the picture. Also, to the very left of a pan out you can see the corner of the mobile portable teleprompter.
Check out full CNN/KTUU video from about 9:15 - 9:36 and 13:20 - 13:45 when the camera pans around. Her family (parents, siblings, in laws) is standing off to the side. Those are the people clapping. Full video at:

The camera shot left something very important out of the picture. She had a portable TV screen/monitor in front of her from which she spoke. Note, as she is first walking out there, is a man covered with a blanket over his head and he is holding the equipment. She spoke from a smaller, portable version of a back room teleprompter like what Obama uses at WH East Room press conferences in his opening statements. The few people who were there were off to the side. There was no one in front of her. Only one media outlet was present. The piece of equipment looks like an over-sized notebook computer.
"Law Department" ???
www.gov.state.ak.us/exec-column.php
EXCERPT: "Another accomplishment – our Law Department protected states’ rights – two huge U.S. Supreme Court reversals came down against that liberal Ninth Circuit, deciding in our state’s favor over the last two weeks. We’re protectors of our Constitution – federalists protect states’ rights as mandated in 10th amendment."

KS, NE, OK, UT, WY, ID, and AK, are about all conservatives have left (and the hope that Obama and America fail).
Fortunately for us those states don't provide many electoral votes (and I highly doubt America and Obama are going to fail).
The problem is those small states also send Senators who filibuster and obstruct.
joan,
"angry...rambling...has no idea how to repeat it in a human-like way. The tone and inflection were completely off." i don't think so. i think she was saying her side...just as i have heard you do so many times.
joan, i didn't vote for palin and wouldn't ever in my life. her beliefs counter everything i have ever thought or believed since the day i was born.
i have agreed with approximately 90% of your views that i have read over the past years. i consider myself pretty far left. today i read what you wrote and think of so many times i have seen you angry and rambling on tv...with your tone and inflection, in my opinion, completely off. i read your readers posts on sarah palin and i feel sick. go back and read some of them. how as a member of the democratic party (with some power as a journalist) is it productive to do what you do? how is it productive to help inspire people to write personal slander about anyone from any walk of life? what is your intention? why do you do this job? i am just curious because i think there are better ways to go about it and would like to know why you choose to write what you write.

thanks.
My primary impression watching her announcement is how utterly panicked she seemed. She was talking *so fast* and looked like she was about to hyperventilate.
The rambling and incoherent nature of her announcement, I think, was really just an attempt to throw out as many excuses, misdirections, alibis, justifications, accusations and red herrings as possible in the hope that *something* sticks. Like her typical "word salad", it's a tactic that only works when one's adversary is too timid to call BS and backs down.
