Sarah Palin resigning as Alaska governor

The Wasilla soap opera just gets weirder as Palin complains critics are "picking apart a good point guard"

The letters thread is now closed.

"Sarah Palin could devour live kittens on TV and her fans would only stop cheering long enough to bring her another basket of kittens."

LOL That's one of the funniest things I've read online recently. But it's also true, and her fan club would be on Salon and other sites talking about how cats are evil, real Americans like dogs. Talking about all the rural folk that they knew when they weere knee high to a grasshopper that used to bag up cats and throw them in the 'crick', so eating them is not that big a deal, really, they would say, it just makes them admire her even more.

Maybe it's pressure from top Republicans

Colin Powell just warned Obama about big government. Maybe there's some secret move to make the Republican party credible again.

It would be a smart move for the few remaining educated, intelligent Republicans left in the party to chase her off the stage.

It would be nice if the political dialectic could for a change be about competing intelligent well-developed ideas about the future instead of the kind of dumb, mean, divisive pseudo-populism that Sarah Palin exemplified during the 2008 campaign.

Correction: Rachel Jackson

I should have characterized Rachel Jackson's death as "sudden" rather than "premature." Death at the age of 61 was not really premature during the early 19th-century.

@Raise Up -- Don'tcha remember how the left hated Bush?

Now they don't have "W" to kick around anymore. So they turned their ongoing hate machine toward Sarah. She wanted to spare her family from nitwits like Letterman so now she'll bide her time, gather her forces, and knock Bamster for a loop in '12.

But don't believe me. Hide and watch.

I wiash her well

I was harsh on her. Now that she did the RIGHT thing and resigned... I only wish her well in whatever endeavor she chooses as long as it's not running for office-any office- again. She’ll make a hell of living joining FIX news, seriously.

@Mezbourian -- O'Bama does not look forward to a Palin debate

cuz he knows he'd get his clock cleaned. Look at the speech she gave from the heart with just notes. Not needing a word-by-word teleprompter like the Bamster.

Well you sure don't need a telepromter when you are on the bath tub meth she uses. Shit, she could ramble on after they had switched off the lights, locked the doors and everyone had gone home.

Maybe the truth is finally going to come out...

... about Bristol being Trig's actual mother, not Sarah. This video makes a great case:

Watch and make up your own mind... it's pretty obvious to me.

Sarah has great star power that shone thru during the campaign

Aurora borealis will come south when the time comes for the great showdown in '12. Without McCain to stifle her.

Beyond Amazing

but this is the opening act for her presidential ambitions. Running a state in a bad economy where budgets don't really balance on their own is not fun anymore so she is putting herself first and saying good bye.

she is now free to go on talk shows, make money, talk to adoring GOP crowds

if we elect her in the future to anything other than dog catcher we deserve what we get.

Media Schmedia

According to reporting all over, there may be a federal embezzlement indictment over Palin's house. One report says her house in Wasilla and the sports complex built during her tenure are said to feature the ’same windows, same wood, same products, and Max Blumenthal has even more at the Daily Beast. http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-07-03/did-a-scandal-sink-the-uss-palin/?cid=hp:mainpromo2

Maybe this has already been discussed, sorry if it is a repeat. However, this would be the most likely scenario because to just up and resign is a very strange and shocking behavior for someone who has the need to run for national office. If there is an indictment is on the way, I can completely understand why she resigned right now. She needs to get out ahead of this and make some money. There will be substantial legal bills involved if this actually happens to be the case. Brad blog has more reporting on this subject as well. Happy reading!

@jncc1701 -- Very true - we get the government we deserve

Just look what The Bamster is giving us. Wait till tomorrow.

train wreck?

i sense a horrified reluctance to watch, as one among us, possibly suffering mental illness, embarrasses herself... perhaps those who love her are urging her to step down before her condition unravels more publicly?

Sarah Palin resigning as Alaska governor

I listened to the video and I even read the text of the speech and I still don't understand what that woman is talking about. It's not coherent to me. Why is she leaving......not that I care. She needs to have an interperter with her whenever she comments. anyway, Bye.

Saturday, July 4, 2009 10:10 AM

Yes Terkoy, we know: tomorrow belongs to you.

We will now witness the real Sarah.

And the libs are terrified.

In '10 they'll start to lose control of Congress.

Then USA will be reinstated to normalcy after Sarah wins in '12. ACORN be damned.

But don't take my word for it. Hide and watch.

I really am curious to know what you mean by, "The USA will be reinstated to normalcy." What is normalcy, as you see it?

Saturday, July 4, 2009 10:11 AM

@Terkoy

Yeah, and the right never hated Clinton.

What short memories. Clinton was called a "murderer" and McCain called 13-year old Chelsea "ugly" and compared her to a dog. In fact, Clinton was so hated by the right that they spent $6 million trying to pin something on him and the best they could do was prove he got a blow job and lied about it.

Al Gore was painted as a "liar" (which all evidence proves he was not), and he was ridiculed for everything from his demeanor to his clothes.

John Kerry, a confirmed war hero, was speciously attacked for "lying" about his service and his war wounds were ridiculed. His wife was likewise hated and ridiculed unmercifully.

And you guys are whining because we on the left hated bush for what he actually DID during his tenure - others have written exhaustive lists here? We actually witnessed the war of choice and the poor treatment of our soldiers and vets, the destruction of our economy and our environment and the respect we held around the world, the war profiteering . . .

And we hated it.

The right on the other hand, hated and attacked every democratic candidate with a white hot fever, just because they were democrats.

After all the attacks on all democrats for decades, you expect us to feel bad because we call Palin for what she is: an ignorant and arrogant nut who thinks god talks to her and runs for the second highest office in the nation without even knowing what the job entails, and someone who fomented hatred at her rallies until people yelled "Kill him [Obama]" and she only smiled, attacking Obama unmercifully over nonsense and who now cries that the media has been "mean" to her.

Highly hypocritical to whine over what liberals say about Palin after ridiculing John Kerry's war wounds AT THE RNC.
