David Horowitz, and Dick Morris have in common?
A: something this bunch never will.
We all realize we might as well be speaking different languages, do we not?
Meanwhile, following the law of diminishing returns, what started as an impressively intelligent discussion has degenerated into troll infestation and juvenile rhetoric. I'm leaving here for some professional commentary, hoping at least some of them know what they're talking about and have actual, you know, news to report.
One that won't quit and another who's essentially walking off the job. What's up with Sarah Palin? Is her unexpected decision evidence of mental instability? Probably not. Instead it enables her to collect lucrative lecture and public appearance fees (which she can't do as a public servant). The road from public service to self-enrichment is well trod and she's decided to cash in. Though she may think she has a future in national politics her opponents, and that would be Republicans duking it out for 2012 nomination, will make mince meat of her. "You quit, how can the American people rely on you???"
She presented herself as a regular old hockey Mom, whom we discovered has a taste for designer duds far beyond with Joe the Plumber's wife could afford. In many countries where wealthy people are assumed to be crooksters this would have been used as evidence of how she would spent other people's money. As soon as she gets into office, the thinking would go, she will plunder the public trough for personal gain. By contrast, Mitt Romney's immense wealth would be an assurance he didn't need to do that.
Yet the Mittster could never sell himself on those grounds because wealth in America is a demonstration of the enduring American Dream, namely "It's there if you work for it." And those who are less able need to rely on the wealthy to create jobs for them. This is an unchallenged article of faith among many Republicans. Hence the GWB tax cuts were skewed through the wealthy.
Yet we're entering an era where people can acquire wealthy by becoming famous and creating interest in themselves. Jon and Kate. Sarah Palin. This is going to be fun to watch.....
Koolaide drinkers, er, Salon readers: the question is: if she's not relevant, then why do you, Salon, CNN, PMSNBC, New York Times, etc GIVE A FLIP WHAT SHE'S DOING AND SAYING?? If she's a stupid, brainless idiot, with views that are WAY outside mainstream America-why give her the time of day?? Why not ignore her and she'll go away?? Ahh, the fact is-you fear her and the millions upon millions of Average Americans who agree with the vast majority of her views...You are amusing to watch and actually pathetic to behold.
and the economy started booming after the '94 Republican takeover of Congress. Only 47 people's deaths have been attributed to Clinton starting with Foster and Brown.
When I heard the governor's horror stories from Arkansas natives about troopers acquiring prostitutes and Georgia-Pacific (in my store when he was running in '92) I didn't think he had a chance.
But like O'Bama with his seedy past, none of it mattered.
At least Clinton was a Rhodes scholar with credentials, where The Bamster's way was cleared cuz of his color; scholastic records are not available.
That's not a t/b u/i rd, it's a b/t i/u rd!
I am glad she has made this decision and hopefully will not run for President in 2012. I'm hoping the Republican party will carefully choose their nominee's for the next election. It is gravely important to remove the current President as he is swiftly implementing socialist government philosophy and most likely will devastate our countries future economy if left in office for an additional four years.
"Now THAT is really sad. Glad you think so highly of the C-word. I'll bet the ladies find you enthralling."

Glad it made you sad.
Words exist for a reason. Even though I'd not use that word myself and I didn't like it in the quote I posted, I felt it would be devious of me to excise one of the quotes you so helpfully quoted yourself.
Again, thanks very much for your help.
"A marginal topic" to be sure. It was not the letter-writers of Salon who catapulted this highly-unqualified person into the limelight. Nor were we the ones who constantly intimated that this "pit bull with lipstick" was, perhaps the future of a national party.
You make those kinda claims, you gotta take the heat. Or, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
People making fun of her son with Down Syndrome?
My bet is that this is just another stab by this drama queen at victimhood, like the alleged hordes demanding that she explain Todd's membership in the AIP.
and I'm an atheist.
of our founding fathers as is practical; approximated during the Reagan years after Carter got thru trashing us (as The Bamster is doing now during Carter's second term.)
...as commentors indulge in the usual name-calling and gutter polemics.
A cursory reading of these comments reveals, as always, a trickle of thoughtful/insightful remarks and a torrent of tribalism.
What a useless exercise in gossip and innuendo about a marginal topic.
Although, perhaps it fits in with Salon's general drift (sauf Greenwald) seemingly towards the motto: more heat, less light.
Congrats! Your rant was ALMOST as goofy as Palin's resignation speech.
We must heed the creed of Emanuel who said we should never waste a crisis. The Bamster was supposed to fix it but estimates are now 11-1/2% unemployment by Dec. 31.
