Sarah Palin resigning as Alaska governor

The Wasilla soap opera just gets weirder as Palin complains critics are "picking apart a good point guard"

What Did Palin DO?

Oh, Sarah Palin did ever so many things, but insofar as I am concerned, she has earned my antagonism for this:

She lied. And lied. And then lied about lying. And then lied some more. And she's still lying, sometimes for no discernible reason. Please refer to Andrew Sullivan's long-running tally of "The Odd Lies of Sarah Palin," which--at last count--totaled 31. Since you seem to acknowledge that you know next to nothing about Palin, I suggest reading the discussion of "Lie XXXI: The Cost of Ethics Complaints" (link at my signature).

That comment about Trig

Was extremely offensive. She said something like the world needs more, not fewer, people like Trig.

Who the hell is demanding that something untoward be done to babies with Down Syndrome?

To all you Sarah cultists, this is a good example of exactly why I despise Palin. She twists issues and throws in insults to demean political opponents in wholly inappropriate ways.

Palin goes to great lengths to portray herself as THE all-American supporter of our troops, who she she says are selflessly defending America's freedoms, including the Right To Free Speech, then calls on Obama to help her silence an Alaska citizen. That's just perverse, and it shows not only a complete lack of understanding of the 1st Amendment, but a total disregard for it.

Do you get it now?

Some men may hate Palin because she is a woman. But to claim -or think - that women hate Palin because she's a women is absurd. If you really want to know what liberals have against her, read and ask. You'll find that we'll be more than happy to share.

indictment for embezzlement?

that makes the most sense for me and follows the story reported during the 2008 campaign by the Village Voice.

Palin mentioned lawsuits and expense twice in her speech.

McCain's campaign manager just did a hit on her in the new Vanity Fair - he called her "unfit for office" and noted they didn't know this until after she was on the ticket.

I think this is part of the infighting in the Republican party for power and to change the direction they've taken since Rush is their great spokesperon/power broker and the talibornagain/neocon/militia/teabaggers just took a big hit. So did Kristol.

The accuracy of my foresight is simply astounding

For quite some time now, I have been alone in the wilderness making the exact same prediction about Sarah Palin. Others have dismissed my prognostication out of hand, but today's events are bringing it several steps closer to its inevitable reality. When it does finally come to pass, I expect all of you - even the Ralph Nader and Ayn Rand accolytes - to publicly declare me a visionary of the highest order.

Sarah. Palin. November. 2009. Nude. Playboy.

Iceberg Scandal

Candidate 1:

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/07/03/palin-hockey-arena-scandal/

The big hockey arena she got built that put Wasilla in a world of debt and the lakefront house she built about the same time feature the same materials, windows, etc. Nothing unusual about that in Alaska, I suppose. Say, that reminds me, what's Ted Stevens up to these days?

"Don't cry for me Wasilla ..."

@eric_andersen "... noisy farm animals make this Sarah Palin press conference just seem silly" Well there's that too ...

This isn't news, and shouldn't be on the headline.

The Washington Post's publisher tried to sell access to the Administration to lobbyists.

Helen Thomas thinks Obama is more controlling than Richard Nixon.

I'm only waiting for Salon to show Glenn Greenwald the door.

@Lost In Berlin - Here's What It Means

"Since when can a governor be more effective for his/her state by throwing in the towel? Does this mean that she's just bailing out of an elective office to take a lucrative job as a Fox News talkshow host"

YES - or a member of some panel show on Fox or similar. Maybe she'd be Rush's version of Robin Quivers (except Ms. Quivers is intelligent and articulate)

That's exactly what it means.

As governor, SP has to actually do a little work for the citizens of Alaska, in between TV appearances and speeches. She'd have to compete to get a few minutes on TV, etc.

But as a "journalist" on Fox, she has a guaranteed amount of air time, and no pesky distractions. Fox probably pays a lot more, and the family can move out of Wasilla.

Remember her degree is in communications.

"I'm also mystified by her declaration that remaining in office until the end of her term would represent a vast waste of millions of tax payer dollars."

She's admitting to incompetency there.

"Regarding her statement that America needs more children like Trig - I think we'd all appreciate a clarification."

What it means is that she values emotional connection more than intelligence, rationality or objective reality.

"her statement really sounds like a series of disjointed and thus nonsensical soundbytes"

That's pretty much true of everything she says. Heck, without a teleprompter she doesn't even speak in complete sentences.

I don't know if she talks that way because she can't talk any other way, or if she does it intentionally. Some people purposely speak in odd ways so that the listener inserts their own meaning into the word salad, hearing what they want to hear and thinking 'she's one of us!'

"Sarah must be in BIG trouble..."

I think someone at Fox made her a really good offer, and she took it.

You watch. She'll either have her own TV show, or become a part of one. Look at Pat Buchanan......

@YouDon'tCare

What? How? What? Could you vague that up a little more for me?

@JugSouthgate

Thanks for the interpretation. I fear you're right. Still, I'll stick with my "Stepford" theory: "I'll just DIE if I don't get this recipe..." Sombody call the repair shop!!!

The moose lady departs

What a joke. The moose lady decides to take her ball and leave. Guess the limelight hasn't been kind to this ignorant hick. Bye now sweetie. Don't think it hasn't been fun. Because it hasn't

@ Joan Walsh

“In an angry, rambling press conference that will rival Gov. Mark Sanford's as a stunning example of a bizarre public meltdown, Palin basically blamed her decision on her national critics, who she said were blocking her agenda and costing Alaska taxpayers money.”

Joan, I know quite well by now that you enjoy putting people down.

Let’s say for the sake of argument that Sarah Palin’s conference was “rambling” because, perhaps, she was somewhat nervous.

Were you nervous, when you wrote the following: “Palin basically blamed her decision on her national critics…”?

How can anyone “blame” his or her decision? Did you mean to say that she blamed her national critics for her decision?

Then, putting down another person along the way, you wrote:

“According to Think Progress, the spectacularly wrong Palin supporter Bill Kristol phoned into Fox News to say: “If I had to guess, we just saw the opening statement of the 2012 campaign.” Meanwhile, on MSNBC Andrea Mitchell says she's hearing from GOP sources Palin is out of politics "for good." Who do you believe?”

You said so many times how insignificant and uneducated Sarah Palin is. Why, then, are you concerned about her plans for the future? If you were a logical person, you would not ask this question: “Who do you believe?” You just mentioned that Bill Kristol was always wrong. So you should dismiss his prediction and believe Andrea Mitchell.

I would like to make another point. Most of your readers think of themselves as educated people. But education is not a substitute for intelligence.

One of the definitions of intelligence is the faculty of perceiving and comprhending meaning.

Your readers mocked Sarah Palin’s words: “The world needs more Trigs, not less.”

They failed to comprehend what Sarah Palin meant. In my opinion, she meant the following:

The world needs more love and compassion.

If your readers still don’t get, I can add a few more sentences.

One person (KateTex) was absolutely accurate in her letter “Salem revisited.” She ended it with this sentence: “You're some strange breed of haters.”

What reaction did she get? She got a confirmation:

“Yes, this means I hate you.” -- trend2121

Joan, I am not blaming you for their hate letters, but please think about this: if your readers are the orchestra, then you are a conductor of this orchestra. And this is a huge responsibility.
