"Every kid gets a trophy"

Bush's goodbye address is a festival of self-pity and delusion.

Bush the Worst

President Bush, in his farewell address to the nation, proved, yet again, that he is a clueless, responsibility shirking, ignorant, lazy, a proponent of bailing out rich bankers, out of touch, spoiled, arrogant, dangerous, neocon, warmongering, torturing, lying buffoon who foolishly thinks America cares about his presidential self-assessment. Thankfully, judging Bush’s presidency is left to historians and the people. One popular vote for, “PRESIDENT BUSH IS THE WORST PRESIDENT, EVER.”

@ Wayne Robert

Bush also reminded me a little boy pretending to be a man. You can see it in his walk. If you were to ask a tot to walk like his daddy, he'd walk like Bush.

philhooper on being open minded

For liberals, it appears that morality and character are rooted in policy, not personal character. If you disagree with a political leader, then that leader is immoral in your eyes.

You're right, what a bizarre notion — that morality is about actions, not talk. I can't imagine any conservative who would fall for that load of bunk. True conservatives know that it doesn't matter what you do — what matters is what you say. That's why conservatives never really went after Clinton even when they could have. (Never mind all those assassination attempts and acts of terrorism against the government by right-wingers during the Clinton years — those have been politely swept under the table and bygones are bygones, right?)

So let's play a game, to show all these lefties how wrong they are about Bush.

Let's list his achievements as president, every single one large or small, and show how they benefited this country.

... You go first.

@Ken Pittman, philcooper

Who the fuck cares what you think? Pack a lunch, you assholes are going on a one-way ticket to the Shitcan of History come Tuesday.

You people had your chance and you Failed in such a mind-blowing, uncomprehensible way it boggles the mind. There has never been a bigger Failure in the history of Fail than GWB, and all of the idiotic assholes who support him.

You all fucked up, but thankfully through your massive incompetence and incoherence have become so evident that future generations will marvel at your idiocy. I do admire that I suppose....if you are gonna Fail make it the biggest Failure in recorded human history.

PS. (In case you didn't get it the first time): Who the fuck cares what you think? You people don't matter any more. Step aside and let the rational adults run things from now on. You don't matter anymore. Jump up and down, whatever. Yell and spam blogs, commit hara kiri on Tuesday. No one cares. You people are politically dead. Why don't you get yourselves buried?

Thank You !!!

This Presidency was always a poorly written and acted farce. The final act has been excruciatingly long and Bush's last monologue only underlines every cynical device waged against the audience.

@ PoodlePlay

You're welcome. The praise was deserved. Your Kubler-Ross post should be considered a classic. I hate how someone will post something golden and then it gets buried by ordinariness.

NOBODY NEEDED a 'farewell address' except the decider

Sorry Joan,

I am a sympathetic person but George W. Bush has pushed me beyond my capacity to pity him. There's simply too much national loss, disgrace and perhaps irreparable damage to us and the world for me to scrounge it up for this delusional man. Even his self-lauded efforts for AIDS help in Africa is gobbled up by his vacuous stance on condom use versus abstention. Damn, this list could go on but he is not worth the waste of time and words. About his self-described 'good intentions', I think there's an especially acknowledged Hell for that.

I have a summary of this dry drunk I wish somebody (Mike Luckovich comes to mind) would cartoonize: 'President George W. Bush: 'A mule sitting on its ass harnessed to a wagon with blinders on refusing to budge.'

Good-bye W. and please, just stay away...please?

Thank you.

But Al Gore would have been just as bad!

Isn't that what the Nader nihilists said at the time? What some of them still say to this day?

It isn't just the Bubbas who delivered us into this evil, it's the More Mao Than Thou left-wingnuts, too. Like GWB, they ought to feel profoundly ashamed of themselves, but also like GWB, they never will.

"Amity"...

...I repeat, your Dem pols also voted for this war. How does the fervent vitriol directed at Pres. Bush because of this country's engagement in a war that both parties voted for help support our troops who are proud of the job that they are doing, and I am proud of them. It is so easy for you, and like-minded people, to act as if they have a CLUE as to what is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. Everybody's an expert, right? I'm sure you, and the enlightened Salon readership, are briefed on classifiued infor from the Middle East everyday, right...But honestly, I don't know why I bother...you lost me at "ruling class" anyway. Utopia is possible my dear friend, but keep up the good work!!! I'm sure one day human beings can finally arrive at your intellectual level and stop being so, you know, human!

Shoes

If I could I would also throw my pair of shoes number 15 at Bush.

He deserves it and that journalist in Iraq expressed the world anger towards this administration.

I hope that becomes the real symbol of Bush legacy.

Few more days to liberation. Yes We Can!

I have no right to be angry? WHAT?

I have every right to be angry with this out-going President. For anyone to suggest or request otherwise is not a patriot.

I'm angry at him for lying us into a war

I'm angry at him for ignoring the constitution

I'm angry at him for committing war crimes

I'm angry at him for taking away many civil liberties

I'm angry at him for being a bully throughout the world

I'm angry at him for mis-representing my country

I'm angry at him for lying to stay out of war himself

I'm angry at him for pretending to be a Texas rancher

I'm angry at him for imprisoning people for no cause

I'm angry at him for now trying to sound like he cares

I'm angry at him for pushing his way into office

I'm angry at those who voted him

I'm happy it has come to an end.
