"Every kid gets a trophy"

Bush's goodbye address is a festival of self-pity and delusion.

@ Paul in KY

This is why gay citizens are perfect...for Bush voters. If you just deny gay citizens the pursuit of happiness and liberty, you're set! You're all good! You get to cuddle with Jesus, forever and ever! You sacrifice nothing, for your faith is founded on making others sacrifice, from Jesus to gay citizens.

Thanks for trying with that crowd. I know that blank stare. I think following Christ is incomprehensible to most Christians.

Loft a shoe at him

I think it would be hilarious if everywhere that ex-pres GWB went from now 'till the end of his life, speaking engagements etc., someone from the crowd would send a shoe flying his way. Like Nicholas Cage in "The Weatherman", always getting pelted with fast-food and drinks.

"Thank you for keeping us safe????"

Who is fool enough to believe that crap? Right. He preserved us from economic stability. He guarded us from world peace. He saved us from moral rectitude. He sheltered us from being the model for other countries to emulate and follow. He did a real bang up job of keeping us safe. That's a helluva lot of safety I can do without.

I'll always remember...

Bush made me nostalgic for hummer jokes, Reagan, AND Nixon! I just can't forgive him for that.

One Finger Salute

I would throw my shoe at that idiot, but I might need it for standing on the breadlines of the coming depression that the stupid, incompetent fuck created. So I guess I'll have to settle for a hearty one finger salute to the worst President in American history. Good riddance to bad rubbish. And fuck every Republican until the end of time.

Does the White House even have a screen door?

Bush hasn't protected us since 9/11. He's protected us since 9/12.

What a difference a day makes.

MRs. Walsh Get Over It

"because this president has damaged the nation beyond what I'm certain our next president can fix."

Dear girl you are already creating an excuse for the ineptitude, strange appointments and the bits of Black Liberaltion Theology that will permeate Washington DC. Can you not see that.

Look here the EPA will be run by a one world government type, th Sec Treas is essentially a tax cheat (are you also one, can you get away with it also?) How about the Att General whose integrety is suspect, such as the Marc Rich pardon, who might be a hero to the left wing of the Democrat party. After all Rich simply traded with the Iranians during our hostage problem there. Anti american American smust love that. What about the freeing of the Puerto Rican Terrorists? That's all O.K is it? With you and you syncophants it might all be O K. What aboaut that Chief of staff that obama has appointed. He has a duel citizenship. When push comes to shove where will be his loyalites? If he gets n trouble will he simply high tail it back to the other country?

You know that in the military one salutes the office of the officer, not the man himself. The same is true with our president. One shows respect for the office even if you dislike the man. You have not shown that.

I am a conservative. Do I like Obama, probably not, do I like his wife who seems to carry a chip on her shoulder? Probably not. Will I insult them? Of course not. Obama is aboaut to become OUR PRESIDENT. What part of respecting the President of the United States don't you understand?

I am surprised that during the Bush administration you didn't find shelter in Havana.

Shame on you Madam.

@ bigguns

"If Bush could have managed it, he would have ended it with a mushroom cloud. Ever listen to the fundies wax about the end days? They're positively gleeful when they contemplate Jesus returning as the avenging warrior to kill, kill, kill."

Well... there's still 4 days left. ;-)

I was merely suggesting he was leaving like a whimpering dog.

Apologies in advance to any dog owners out there reading this.

How can you blame American intervention for the acid attack on girls

>>Tell that to the girls disfigured by acid for pursuing their >>education who were profiled in the New York Times on Wednesday.

Please do your homework on Afghanistan.

The Taliban treat women and children like scum. Boys get fucked in their ass and girls are supposed to be completely covered and always in the house. And this is an understatement which sounds like an exaggeration.

The Americans and it's allies are fighting the Taliban and this tendency and you are blaming America for this Taliban behavior. I am not even an American but I thank the American troops for picking the gauntlet and fighting this battle.

Some wars have to be fought and the Afghan war is one of them. You may disagree but an Afghanistan in Taliban control is a danger to the whole world. The world needs a sane government in Afghanistan.

Bigguns

Our left-wing crowd (at least in my local area) didn't seem to understand (or maybe want) to try & make arguments that the Bushistas are hypocrites bacause they wax on about how 'Christian' they are, yet act in any number of anti-Christian ways.

My idea was to list some great quotes of Jesus (being humble, loving the sinner, etc) & then either making them (the Bush gang) acknowledge that their policy positions were not Christian or make them have to trash Jesus.

The fundies really don't like Jesus (think he's a pussy), but they give all kinds of lip service to Jesus & (on paper) have to acknowledge the primacy of the New Testament over the Old Testament.

In hindsight, I think the powers-that-be in this ACLU chapter were quite unfamiliar with the bible and didn't understand how you could use it to bash the fundies.

P.S. Hope you're having a happy New Year :-)

Bush library?

"... will begin the revision at his now combined library and think tank at SMU.

thx again

Library and think tank at SMU?! I thought CRAYOLA was sponsoring the Bush library!

LOOK IN THE MIRROR

Reading through these posts, it's no wonder this country is on the precipice. There are currently men and women stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan doing their best and risking their lives in our name and this is how we thank them? Are you serious??? From what you all have written it is clear you WANT us to fail, you want America to self-implode, you want to welcome back our troops (if they make it back) as losers, bringing up Abu Ghraib or the waterboarding of a few unrepetant, blood-hungry terrorists as besmirching our name. Please! The rest of the world has long wanted America's demise you nimrods. And now you all do as well. It will fulfill and justify your rabid hate of this President, who decided to enter a war that your Democrats ALSO voted for!! How is this glossed over? I was once a Lib who finally switched when I realized that the same people who demand diplomacy and consideration for very hostile enemies can't even have a civil conversation with people who don't agree with their own point-of-view. Hypocrisy. God help this country, despite such hate for it from its very own people.
