The buck stops where? Our delusional president laments the "intelligence failure" that identified nonexistent WMD in Iraq and admits he was "unprepared" for war.

  • Unprepared for war

Well, Lincoln was not, because he refused to accept the obvious, that the Deep South was dead set on secession.

Nor was McKinley, who was pulled by politics and by an intransigent Spanish government into war over Cuba.

Neither was Woodrow Wilson, until the Germans let loose their submarines after Wilson's diplomatic "surge" failed.

Nor was Harry Truman, whose secretary of state made the mistake of declaring Korea to be of no concern to the US.

Nor was John Kennedy when he gave the greenlight to the CIA operation that ended in the Bay of Pigs, nor arguably, was he prepared in October, 1962 for the atomic war that almost happened.

Nor was George Bush, because like the Clinton administration, he failed to take Al Qaeda seriously despite everything that had happened since 1993. You seem to have forgotten the incident in China in May,2001 especially since half the Pentagon was focused on Chin's military buildup, with the Middle East getting short shrift there.

Speaking of delusions, how many terror incidents will it take the likes you to admit that

we are fighting a war with Muslim fanatics whose vision of he future looks a lot like the 7th Century?

  • The Left's Big Lie

Implausibly, the left continues to recycle its tribute to Joseph Goebbels, the monstrous and thoroughly debunked Big Lie that Bush, through some magic, knew that Saddam retained none of the WMD that had been catalogued by the U.N.

Forget for a moment that the bipartisan Robb-Silvermann committee found that the Bush administration did NOT manipulate intelligence. Let's consider the most important historic event that, at least to the liars of the left, never happened: Operation Desert Fox, Bill Clinton's massive four-day air assault on Iraq back in 1998. Although Secretary of State Madeleine Albright stated that the Clinton administration "wasn't pretending that it could get everything," the goal was to degrade Iraq's capacity to produce WMD and reduce its existing stockpiles. During the futile search for WMD after Saddam's fall in 2003, Carville and Begala were all over the cable talk shows prattling that "maybe we got it all."

The professional Bush-bashers must come clean at long last and tell us if Clinton knew that there were no WMD remaining in Iraq when Operation Desert Fox knocked Monica Lewinsky off the front pages. Those who are willing to throw Bubba under the bus to perpetuate their pernicious myth must then explain why the intelligence services of countries monitoring Iraq through 2002 (France, Russia, Germany, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Great Britain, Turkey, China, etc.) ALL reached conclusions similar to American intelligence.

Please explain how Bush and Cheney "manipulated" France's or Russia's findings. The alternative would be, of course, to confess to a vicious and baseless lie. The left often tells lies: it NEVER admits to its misdeeds.

  • You just didn't like it. It was the Clinton State Department that designated Iraq a state sponsor of terrorism. Are you saying Clinton lied about Saddam's sponsorship of terrorism?

I went back over your entire post and not once did you name a single terrorist group. You did, however, give another good example of Clinton Derangement Syndrome. YOUR the one who used links to terrorist groups to make excuses for invading Iraq. The burden of proof is on you, not me. Instead you want to turn everything into how horrible Clinton is. This may come as a shock to you, but we on the left are actually allowed to disagree with OUR leaders. I know that talk radio has conditioned you guys not to ask questions of yours but you might want to try it some time. I didn't agree with Clinton bombing Iraq in 1998 anymore then I supported Shrubs little invasion five years later (actually, I can't think of anyone who supported the Clinton bombing even on the right yet they had no problem with Bush doing it. What a shock!). If the main argument for the invasion of Iraq was links to terrorist groups and fear of Saddam turning the non-existant WMDs over to said groups, then perhaps someone should be able to name said groups and point to the evidence of a connection. To date, no one ever has. Yet even after Bush himself has admitted that Iraq had no hand in 9/11, many of his worshippers still claim he did.

  • Left

    Right

    It's all partisan bullshit

    All blinded sight

The first newspaper photo I saw of Bin Laden

Was after the Nairobi and Dar as Salam embassy bombings

    In '98

    Three years later

    The twin towers go up

Nearly three years after that date

Clinton, Bush, they're both dumb clumsy oxes to me

They've had every tool at their beck and call

    But blind eyes

    That never can see...

  • Is Elvis

Fixin' a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich?

  • Simple Enough for Leftist Liars? Nah!

My post predictably provoked dissimulation and incoherence from the liars of the left. We'll make it simpler this time:

Name the intelligence service that claimed back in 2002 that Saddam had no WMD.

Correct--absolutely NO intelligence service anywhere in the world made that claim.

  • Yeah

But when ya went to Iraq

    And blew open the mint

    The weapons of mass destruction

    Were two balls of lint...

  • pomeroo

    Go flush you shit

    Right straight

    Down the loo..

  • Unanswered Question

Yes, Klytus, your embarrassing stupidity reflects your blinkered ideology perfectly. But tell us again: What intelligence service claimed in 2002 that Saddam retained no WMD?

    Don't be shy.

  • Oh, that's easy pomeroo

It was the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

    Plus the Lone Ranger too..

  • Joan, He's Been Lying All Along and He's Still Lying

I don't believe GWB ever intended to serve for the good of the country. In fact, I believe he set out to destroy the foundations of the United States in any way possible, and he's still doing it. He puts on a good act, but he's just a front for the few wealthy and powerful who seek nothing less than world domination. They are skilled at destroying smaller countries; why not US?

  • 'Ol pomeroo

    Don't wanna get excluded

In the tellin' of them lies

    He loves the big Dubya

    And even moonlights as him

    In anonymous internet disguise

  • Name the intelligence service that claimed back in 2002 that Saddam had no WMD.

Name one that was right about it. Bush said there was WMDs, Bush was wrong. Now, are you people ever going to take any of that "personal responsibiilty" you all like to talk about so much and admit your messiah was wrong or are you just going to keep wetting your diapers about Clinton? Most of his cabinet belonged to PNAC, an organization that was dedicated to the overthrouw of Saddam since the early nineties. This had nothing to do with protecting America from terrorists. Meanwhile the guy who really attakced our country is still at large making Bush no better then your hated Clinton at protecting the country.
