9/11 changed everything for this country and its citizens. It has affected all of our lives in some way -- travel, our attitudes, our freedoms. Most significantly, opponents of the initial invasion and overall war were afraid to speak out for fear of being labeled unpatriotic or unAmerican. Negative ads would be put out against any opponent so they feared losing political campaigns and so on, and with the PATRIOT Act and the free reign this government now had who knows what else the government would do. Rather everyone rallied around the Administration as they normally do in situations where the country is attacked - at least initially. The battle against terrorism might have been pursued more intelligently without utilizing all of our might and force, but for those fears of reprisals orchestrated by powerful forces within the Administration, it was continued according to their plan (or lack thereof). Had we acted more rationally and in cooperation and unison with world allies, perhaps it would have been conducted differently and more effectively. The war in Afghanistan should have been completed. I think we see more clearly now that this and Pakistan are primary areas where the terrorist live, train and thrive -- an extremely unstable area which already has WMD! The Bush Administration is guilty of many things: taking away our liberties and freedoms, destroying America's image and standing in the world, exhausting our resources, mounting tremendous debt resulting in the destruction of our economy, poorly planned and insufficiently funded programs (No Child Left Behind, Dept. of Homeland Security), instilling a cowboy combatitive attitude among citizens (owing any weapons you desire), etc., leaving our country weaker and more vulnerable than before 9/11. We were so consumed by this war, terrorism and whatever fears the Administration's rhetoric was putting out, we weren't watching other important matters. Yes, he and his cronies wanted to finish the job for Bush 1, which I suppose he did accomplish -- Hussain is gone, but the book isn't finished being written - the future will tell. I suspect that eventually a theological leader will take control ousting the American favored leadership and we'll have something similar to Iran.
So, Rove is in charge of shaping the public's Bush legacy perceptions. It's no surprize then that Bush's utterences are full of rhetoric crafted precisely to create confusion. The intentional double speak helps Bush followers who need to remain confused and in denial about it all. It doesn't matter how many verifiable and objective facts come out that prove Bush is a war criminal. Some Bush zombies to this talk about how WMD was transferred to Syria. Bush's newest incarnation of Rovian rhetoric is the Kool-aid those fools so desperately need.
The real question is where did all the weapons of mass destruction (WMD) go? It is fact that Iraq under Saddam Hussein did posses and use WMD’s. Undeniable truth lies in Saddam's use of WMD’s most notably against the Iranians and the Kurds. So if it was a fact Saddam had WMD’s, where did they go? Did Saddam use them all up, did he destroy them, did he hide them, or did he give them away? That appears to be more important question.
Unfortunately Saddam brought this upon himself for using WMD’s. Because of that fact, Saddam was the target of UN inspectors that he was less than cooperative with and raised suspicion. Additionally it was bad timing on his part due to the September 11, 2001 attack against America. Back then a majority of Americans were out for revenge. Sadly many today are too cowardly to admit that and play the blame game to shirk off responsibility onto President Bush. No ones the blame except Saddam, and for that he was hung. Fortunately for the people of Iraq, their violent dictator is gone along with all the WMD’s. But then are the WMD’s really gone?
I got ostracized up and down the block
Bein' ay-rab American
Didn't help my anti-invasion arguments
One whole
Of a hell of a lot
Hence the mockings seldom relented
Or really
Did they
Significantly ever really
All that much
Stop.
It was only until after the Katrina hurricane
In 2005
That I noticed a few brains begin to thaw
And come slowly aware
And once more
Warmly
Some what alive
It was of course
A very slow process of thaw
That took a good long stretch of time
And now here we are
At a new
International intersection
All ready to commence
The good calender year
(I hope)
Of 2009....
So you can take an ay-rab's oil
If ya like
Partake of his delicious saffron rice
But never on your fool fuck lives
Will you ever take
An ay-rab's
Good advice...
It's crazy to think of some of the things I have done that I look back in horror at now. I think he is looking back at the last 8 years wondering how he let this happen. I bet that behind closed doors he was abused and ignored, puppet style, by cheney and rumsfield and didn't have the backbone to speak up for himself. I don't think he made many of the decisions he made. he's not that smart (?) or interested. he got in over his head. MAN-i got this job once that I totally didn't deserve-it was awful
It's unfortunate for W that he will go down in history as the worst president ever. pay attention to his very public lesson: you wear your integrity on your sleeves. You might think you are fooling people, but you're not. i recognize that red nose and flushed cheeks! we might not know exactly whats going on but we know SOMETHING is going on. it's obvious from this angle.
Didn't Clintonites think Iraq had WMD, and supported the war?
Is anyone prepared for war, do you honestly think Obama will be ready for a war? He will do what Bush did and listen to his advisors, and it appears he will have basically the same advisors Clinton had, who thought Iraq had WMD. Bush is old news, he's been a lame duck for over 2 years, so why hasn't the Democrat controlled Congress brought home the troops?
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
