Yes dear, we all know you "love Hillary"...it was evident from your first letter...and that's cool...she has many admirable qualities...after her quite enthusiastic "nomination" of Barrack Obama at the Democratic National Convention I sent her some money,( a small sum to her but significant to me as a 62 year old not employed person,) to help pay off her campaign debt...I sent a note of appreciation to her for her leading the way in throwing her support for Obama....
You seem to want very much to be pro-female yet you still focus way too much on a woman's appearance...i.e. your "black friends" and how they look, do their hair and how they dress..(I actually "got" your point there, and agree, except you contradict yourself in discussing Palin and Bernard!) how Palin is appearing haggard lately, (who wouldn't look haggard?! at this point?) even to how her eyes look! Oh my! Now you compare the brilliant Michelle Bernard to high school girls and their petty assessments of one another? H E L L O !
Bernard, a highly educated woman and law school graduate, is the President and CEO of the Independent Woman's Forum....She does indeed appear very young..girlish perhaps to you and me, the grandmothers here... She is almost fortyfive years old! She is married to Joe Johns of CNN and the mother of two children....she is NOT anti-woman......quite the contrary! She was invited to Hardball as a guest to express her opinion! You did not like her opinion so you called her names! Now THAT is "High School"
Yes Nana, Ms. Bernard does indeed remember the primary race and the tactics that the Clintonistas (my term here) used....being an Independent allows one , gives one the FREEDOM! to openly discuss and even list, one by one, things which one finds despicable in a particular candidate's or party's behavior or tactics!
If we, as older and, one would hope, wiser women, with GRANDCHILDREN for goodness sake! we should be consistant about our standards for other women...their looks, clothing, makeup or lack of same, their haircuts, etc. should not enter into our discussions! Their characters, honesty, or lack of honesty, integrity, ideas, lies, deceptions, decisions,( even some personal choices ,) should all be fair game for our critiques! Do you see what I mean? I mean, see the difference?
Regarding Christopher Hitchens' appearance on Larry King Live last night, he was an INVITED guest, especially asked to GIVE his opinion, which he already written in Vanity Fair, regarding Mrs. Clinton being a candidate for Secty.of State...that was WHY he was on the show...not to "trash" someone, which he, ever the courteous gentleman, did not do in the least...his hair was a bit mussed but he was sober and articulate..he even apologized for some overtalk while another guest was speaking...I have NEVER seen that happen before! Perhaps his upper class British accent offends you or puts you off ...he was articulate, concise and said things that SO MANY of us think but never say...or have a platform to say...you may not like or appreciate Hitchens but alas! he IS quite an influential person in American thought...liberal thought that is...he certainly does NOT respect the Clintons, of that you are correct...but I have yet to see or hear of him standing at a bar, blue collar or otherwise, throwing back the shots and beer chasers! Famed worldwide for her hard drinking, "Drinks like a man!" never has H.R.Clinton been called "sober"....
I think Hitchens' British manner of speaking signaled something it is not to you...he was NOT drunk nor "hungover"....good gracious, I never thought I would be defending Christopher Hitchens but... he spoke "for me" last night! So did Michelle Bernard...but then I too am an Independent.
And...if having Mrs. Clinton as the Secretary of State UNDER President Obama WOULD prevent her from causing him convulted problems and complications in getting HIS agenda and HIS programs through the Senate, then so be it....but I will repeat what I said earlier for your sake and for AKAsmith and everyone else who is screaming "foul and unfair" for the sake of the poor Clintons...ENOUGH OF THIS BACK AND FORTH "CRAPOLA" IT IS TIRESOME! BUT OH, SO TYPICAL ! And so very, very TO THE POINT of WHY we MUST have, MUST HAVE! A CHANGE from "Politics as Usual". Goodnight all, it's been real...
