You are one of the most negative journalists, if that's what you are. YOu can't stand Sarah, and there's nothing she could do right to satisfy you. She's a rising star, and you can't stand all the attention she is getting.
Anyone interested in going to a blog that's at least interesting, go to gretawire.com. Hope to see you there.
So long Joan. I hope you and your negativity will be happy.
Can we all ignore Sarah Palin now? I figure the less options we give her to speak or the less we write about her, the faster she will go away. Everyone with me?
unless the GOP starts asking itself some serious questions about war and peace. They need to ask themselves why they supported a leader who deliberately manipulated intelligence to go to war? if the GOP and its base is willing to send young Americans to kill young and old people of other countries, they show that they really do not care about anything else, be it sympathy for illegal immigrants, single mothers, children without insurance etc. Not even one of the GOP candidates in the primaries except for Ron Paul did any soul searching about how we were misled and how they make sure it never happens again.
John Edwards was just as inexperienced as Sarah Palin, like Ms.Paglia says. So if we are gonna harp on Palin for her inexperience its fair to harp on John Edwards. If Sarah Palin demonstrated even one bit of intelligence on this issue of how we got to Iraq, I will consider her smarter than even John McCain.
Despite all her claims, no one's challenging her claims yet? Like you said, if she's defending her Katie Couric performance, why hasn't any interviewer asked her "Do you really need inside Washington knowledge to answer what newspapers you read?!?".
Then again, it's F** News doing the asking.
The way the media is not doing their jobs is one of the things that brought this country down; Newsweek hid the fact about NAFTA and Africa because they had an agreement with the campaign, sure, hide the fact that the couple that almost became the new bosses were even more incompetent than already known, until after we've made them boss! What the f***???
You say: "Trademark Palin grammar, and totally unconvincing. Answering questions about foreign policy and Supreme Court decisions isn't a matter of rote memorization, it's a matter of knowledge, depth, intellectual curiosity and experience that she clearly doesn't have."
All true, and I'd say it jives with reports that she did refuse preparation for the interview.
Pegster, Joan is not negative. Haven't you read her joyous remarks about Obama? This is called critical thinking and analysis. It's a responsibility of all voters, so that we can make good decisions. It's a responsibility of all thinkers, so we can understand our world.
It will virtually guarantee the Republicans will not occupy the White House for another four years.
I am tired of Sarah Palin. Her trademark was a hate, fear and smear campaign against Arabs, Muslims, African-Americans - anybody with a funny name. Any body who wasn't like the "America we know." (AKA straight, gun-toting whites.)
Palin's rallies reminded me of some sort of anti-semitic hate-fest circa 1930 or a reunion of the KKK. I remember reading an article from the Huffington Post about an impormptu interview of some of Palin's suppoters after a Palin rally. In front of the press crew, Palin's fans trashed African-Americans, using the hateful n-g word. They also demonized Arabs and Muslims. The press crew was from Al Jazeera. Imagine what message Palin is sending to the rest of the world.
Palin's campaign was a disgrace to America. It was an obscene, anti-American assault on every principle that makes this country great. Worse, by launching a campaign of religious and racial fanaticism in this country, we are giving a green light to fanatics the world over. It's no small accident that during the Palin campaign, religious extremists in Iraq and India attacked Christian minorities. What goes around, comes around.
Hatred, ignorance, bigotry, intolerance have now place in America. Palin has no place any where on the political scene. She should go back to being a housewife again.
My niece is 20. She wouldn't know Sarah Palin if she fell over her. I asked her what countries were in NAFTA. Her reply: "The three countries that make up North America", which she then listed. She didn't actually say "Duh", cuz she loves her Auntie, but her expression said it.
She also looks totally hot in a suit.
Qualified? I think so!
If you've had, had your gf have, or performed an abortion, you will never like her. So winning election is kind of a race against promiscuity.
She was also borderline dishonest about the issue of whether she looked into banning books while she was Wasilla mayor, using as "proof" the fact that some people claimed she wanted to ban the "Harry Potter" series, even though it was written after she was mayor.
Um, "borderline" dishonest? Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla until 2002. The first four "Harry Potter" books were published in the US in 1998, 1999, 1999, and 2000, respectively. The first "Harry Potter" movie came out in 2001. There's nothing "borderline" here. She is (at best) flat-out wrong, if not outright lying.
Let me say first: I agree with Palin on one thing: the anonymous McCain advisors who've savaged her since she became a drag on their ticket are cowards and jerks.
If she were savaged unfairly, dishonestly, you make a good point. But where did these stories come from? Out of the blue? No basis in fact whatsoever? Perhaps from a handful of disgruntled "handlers"? Or perhaps embodying some truth on a larger scale? Hearing the ever-so-NON-eloquent Palin call the whole diss on her "flabbergasting" does not convince me there was no nothing nada truth to the hooplah. I'd rather get some viable investigation on this and either wipe it out (in her favor) or get the full facts, ma'am, which goes to her character. And to her intellect.
Whatever her flaws, McCain is to blame for all of them, because he's the one who "went rogue" and picked her with inadequate vetting.
I blame him and his gung-ho base "team" for the pick, but certainly NOT for all her flaws. Those are her private property--she earned them, ya betcha--and she didn't blink in exposing them to the public. I'm not at all sure she believes she has ANY flaws.
Your example of "Trademark Palin grammar" was spot on. Her inability to answer specific questions or engage in intellectual discourse around international or domestic policy, landmark legal decisions, even her alleged energy czaress expertise...knowledge? curiosity? Is she really smarter than a 5th Grader?
Banned books. Well, the bit about the "Harry Potter" series--I can't vouch for whether she wanted those books banned or not, but it was a flat-out lie to say that none of the series had been written yet. Four of the series had been published at the time she was mayor. She claims none had.
All right, enough of my rant. I find this person to be not only disengenous, narcissistic, divisive, mean-spirited beneath the aw-shucks veneer, but also potentially downright deluded (despite or because her God tells her which doors to open, much like the game show--curtain 1 2 or 3 or the box, Sarah? Let's make a deal!).
Maybe she'll keep on truckin' to 2012, but POTUS? Mexico, here I come.
