What about...

Where are the images of;

1) obama and his brother?

2) obama and his aunt?

3) obama and khalidi? (we know these exist)

. . . wait a minute, those would make salonistas cry too, but in a different way.

My Ah Ha Moment

It just occurred to me why I feel so strongly about Obama as our president. It's because he brings out the best in us. That's potentially a tremendous force for good. Of course Obama has the temperament, the intellect, and the leadership, but if change is possible at all, it will come about because of the goodness and determination in all of us.

Thank you Joan, for this, and everything you've written about in the last few weeks of the campaign.

This is the one that really gets to me...

and it's not from Obama's camp.

Long, but really uplifting, especially when the crowd gives him the first standing ovation.

As for the haters showing up here, really, you have a right to your opinion, but there are more effective threads for your arguments than this one. Here you just look mean-spirited.

Well...

I think Republican trolls spewing venom makes baby Jesus cry.

But those were nice links nonetheless, despite the hate that others have. Nice to see that this close to the election, the GOP still stands for nothing positive.

what about "notorbitboy"

images of McCain with Charles Keating, J. Gordon Liddy, GWBush, Dick Cheney or any of the numerous gangsters/war criminals he associates with?

Charles meets Barack

Tears before breakfast are disallowed! hehe

What a great video. I just sent it to my mom and sister - just another two people who are completely emotionally invested in an Obama victory tomorrow.

@pantanal, downcast

I'm all for the "images" you suggest are available.

Let it all out, not just some of it, as obama and salon choose to do.

obama kicks unfriendly reporters off his plane, he doesn't appear to care that much about his brother nor aunt.

He positions himself well, . . . we'll see how many of his campaign pledges he honors . . . I'm looking forward to my tax cut.

downcast: salon is full of mean spirited stuff, much of it directed at Gov. Palin, Dick Cheney, George Bush.

This "stuff", passed off as journalism, includes sexist comments, lies, and letter writers who wish for the death of elected officials.

I think your comment belongs elsewhere.

@notorbitboy and his glass house with no stones

Usually, when I meet people who find it so hard to look at something and just say, "thats nice", or look at anything involving a person they think they dislike or disrespect, it is usually because they dislike themselves or are so afraid of something they don't know or understand that it is easier to put it down, or shut it out than it is to acknowledge it. I cannot imagine a more innocuous piece of video than this one of Barack working with the old lady health home worker.

I cannot help but wonder if you're one of those people who accuses everyone else of "drinking the koolaide", when you're sucking down the pitcher.I wonder how many days or how many seconds you've spent trying to put yourself in anyone else's shoes to experience their life. I highly doubt Mr. McCain even knows how to make a bed, let alone a hospital corner, much in the way Dubya was amazed by the scanner at the supermarket in his first run. the guy you want that beer with has never bought a beer at the market. someone like you probably stocks his bar for him. While you all wait for him to meet you for that beer, Barack was making beds with this little old lady. One day out of a life, and a beautiful notion it is, for one person to try to understand another insead of working on assumption and innuendo.

When is the last time you visted your handicapped step-brother? Or helped someone you did NOT know to do ANYTHING that did not benefit you? People wonder why this nation is so divided? Come in out of your "orbit" and join the human race.

Images

No, you are avoiding the fact that McCain associates with and is proud to be friends with genocidal maniacs, gangsters, con-men, swindlers and war criminals.

why are you such a hater?

I've been a long time Salon reader/supporter even in the heated political season. While the venom I've read has at times shocked/amused me, I let it go. Some letters I simply have chosen to view as being the quivalent of watching a distant car accident. You hate to look but are still drawn to the loud noises. Still, when I read Noorbit I thought where does this sort of contempt/hatred/partisanship come from. Anyone who has paid attention can suspect that Obama's ties to his paternal side of the family has been checkered. Now I'll admit your tacky, troll like comment probably amused you and provided a gotcha moment but OrbitBoy unless you are living in a perfect Ozzie and Harriet land yourself we all have family members for whom we have few pictures. The ties, beyond biology are slim. Beyond gotcha statements I hope you provide more to the society at large that you have demonstrated on line for these months. No, I do NOT expect a religious experience (say conversion like from you), but I hope in your life off screen you provide more to the society at large than simply gotcha moments. If not, you are simply in my opinion taking up space.

A real person, with real feelings

How perfect to post an article showing the person that Sen. Obama is, rather than going negative on his opposition.

if one would dare not fear

amen!

Please don't miss the "American Prayer" music video!

I love this video. My favorite, though, is American Prayer, a music video including people like Joan Baez, Forest Whitaker, Jason Alexander and Barry Manilow, to name a few of the diverse participants.

Have watched it about a dozen times, and it brings me to tears every time. The Martin Luther King segment is sooo touching.

What I appreciate about these kinds of videos are the sweet and beautiful emotions they inspire. May all Americans find their true hearts in the days to come. May we again experience ourselves as fellow citizens, one indivisible people. E pluribus unum.

I know it's a dream, but as Robert Francis Kennedy (the last Presidential candidate I was really thrilled to vote for) used to quote George Bernard Shaw: "Some men see things as they are and say why - I dream things that never were and say why not."
