McCain looks lost on "Meet the Press"

The tired GOP nominee delivers an unimpressive performance as the campaign nears its end.

The letters thread is now closed.

Donate the clothing

About all I can say is McCain's make up looked good. Wonder how much that cost? Otherwise, he sounded just, well, out of touch.

BTW, what thrift store gets the pricy clothing of Palin? And when do we all get to go shopping there?

The 'donation' of $150K worth of clothing is so lame and so hollow. If our government gives tax deductions for that, surely I can deduct the loss in my 401k.

No, that would make sense. Losing your retirement or the value of your home that cannot be deducted. Sarah Palin's clothing to make her look good CAN be deducted.

The tax system rigged for the wealthy: That is one of the many, many reasons why the Republicans are toast.

I can see it coming...

ClothingGate.

Every time Ms. Palin "rears her head" in public post-election, her wardrobe will be scrutinized...wasn't that one of the items they bought for her? I thought that was all being donated to charity?

This election can't be over soon enough.

What surprises me about McCain

Is for all the character and stuff he's sposed to have, how come he's always grinning like an idiot?

I bet he'd get 3 points in the polls if he just presented himself as a serious sober executive who's, due to the state of everything is taking everything seriously.

Dazed and confused!

My husband and I finished watching it. We were struck at how DEFEATED he looked and sounded.

He even gave a huge sigh before answering a question, fumbled the names of his supposed supporters.

His muted, "no" to the question about supporting Limbaugh is on the same page as his not condemning the nasty, dangerous comments at his partner's rallies.

I truly hope this is the last we'll see of either.

And, oh yes, he couldn't get out of there before he uttered those three words, "my friends," and "maverick." I can now go my entire life without ever hearing those words again and BE HAPPY.

Good riddance

I donated money to John McCain's 2000 Presidential campaign. During most of this campaign, I have been amazed at how different the man is this time around, and at times have thought it a shame the 2000 McCain didn't show up this time.

I'm now convinced the 2008 version is the real McCain, with its appeals to racism and division. He has destroyed his reputation and legacy in my eyes. In a way, it's sad to see, but in the long run it's probably better that we now know him for what he really is - a typical Republican politician.

McCain Looks Tired and Uninspired

McCain is just treading out the same line he's been spewing at his rallies just with less volume and enthusiasm. I guess it's hard to commit yourself when you know the person sitting across from you is perfectly willing to demand that you explain yourself. That, of course, is just evidence of the liberal bias in the media, AKA, holding people accountable for the crap that rolls out of their mouths.

Personally, I enjoyed the round table at the end of MTP. What a clear, concise perspective of how totally doomed (fingers crossed!!!) the McCain campaign truly is at this point.

I'm guessing ...

I'm guessing that Senator isn't sleeping too well these days. He sold his soul -- or at least rented it out -- but, alas, deals like that never come with guarantees. His legacy will be that he ran a dirty presidential campaign as an experienced white male politician against a young black man in America ... and somehow managed to lose.

It Was Embarassing

He put the final nail in his own coffin.

I was waiting for someone to grab there crazy uncle off the stage.

This knee-jerk liberal

has a tendency to feel sympathy for darn near anyone who is in a tough position, and yet I just can't find it for McPalin. Heck, I even felt sorry for Ricky Santorum in '06 when he was giving his concession speech!

I guess McCain and Palin have just been too ugly to an opponent who has treated them with respect. They deserve to be trounced. Here's hoping they top McGovern as the biggest losers ever.

Sunday, October 26, 2008 10:19 AM

trounced bounced

and resoundingly renounced!

Same Ol' McPain But Beware!

Regardless of who he's talking to McCain seems to be condescending and defensive in one breath then a forgetful, out of touch old man the next. He looked and acted like such a cranky little boy on MTP this morning that I half expected when the cameras panned away from the set we'd see that his little legs would not quite touch the ground and his feet would be swinging back and forth off the floor more furiously every time Brokaw asked him a "gotcha" question. I found it so interesting that McCain repeatedly dismissed the polls Brokaw was showing and the screened and instead referred a couple of times to "our" polls. Does McCain really have his own set of polls? Does he really think they would be more accurate? REALLY?

Let's not let ourselves get lolled into a false sense of security just yet though. Let's not underestimate the old guy or the GOP's desperate fear of losing this race. McCain's argument on the stump this weekend has been that with an Obama win and 60 senate seats gone Democratic the Republicans would lose their voice entirely. I can see that this message to voters may be one of McCain's most powerful yet and could take on wings in the next week.

Brokaw Souded Disinterested

In calling McCain on any of his bullshit (what a surprise, I know). But to allow a candidate to sit for a half hour an do a campaign ad essentially is disgusting. The "Obama will raise taxes on people earning 42K a year" has been debunked I don't know how many times but John new he could pull it out and use it with his old bud Tom.

McCain looks lost because...

...he is lost. He lost his confidence, his moral compass, his soul...and his senility.

Sunday, October 26, 2008 10:37 AM

A CNN headline: Palin's 'going rogue'.

Oh dear, robots and Stepford units are known to do things things like that...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/25/palin.tension/index.html

The only thing (now that Obama seems to have in the bag) tempering my schadenfreude is the intense seriousness of what an Obama win and a McCain defeat really means for all of us and our futures - the stakes, I think, couldn't be higher.
