What a Maroon!

"As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space

-- I can't beat the imagery of edgore's link! priceless!

of the United States of America, where do they go?

-- They? who are They?

It's Alaska.

--What's Alaska?

It's just right over the border.

-- It?

It is from Alaska that we send those out

--Those?

to make sure that an eye

--whose eye, exactly?

is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia,

because they are right there,

--where?

they are right next to our state."

Wow

I don't think she realizes that she has no idea what she's talking about.

Word up Russia

For your eyes only

I got an eye on you

My name is Sarah

And my Moose aim is true...

Did Palin have to learn a foreign language?

I heard her utter the words "democratic values, tolerance and freedom..." - It's like someone did a last-minute reprogramming on her language circuit. Sounded totally robotic.

She's not this stupid

She's no great intellect, but she's certainly not as stupid as she appears in this clip. She somehow ascended to be the most popular governor in the country -- that takes at least some verbal intelligence.

The programmatic crash course in foreign policy + the shielding from the press + the pressure seems to have made her something of a mental basket case. It's understandable; most people just aren't cut out for the big leagues, especially when they're thrust into them with minimal preparation.

It's John McCain's fault, not hers, ultimately. All attacks should be sent his way. He should have known better.

What a strange, reckless, foolish campaign he's running. At the moment, he's still coasting on his considerable reputation. If he continues to exhaust what remains of that political capital in the next 40 days, we could heading for an Obama landslide.

the worst Sarah Palin moment??

Joan, I willingly admit that I do not like Sarah Palin. I cringe at the thought that she might be President or acting President in the next 4 years. But I have to tell you that I do not see your criticism on this point as valid. Vladimir Putin is a thug, an ex-KGB head, a gangster - Bush may have looked into his eyes and "seen his soul", but he was played. I can look at his face and know this man is playing us all. He's got W's number and he has ice-water flowing in his veins. And he has an idea of a much more powerful Russia these days. You know this.

thank you edgore

that picture had me in stiches.

It depends on how you look at it

NBC and CNN have both picked up the story of Palin's reportedly dreadful interview.

I saw it, and basically understood her comment on Russia to be a reference to missile defense. It has been reported since Palin's selection that most of our ABM systems are located in Russia, and that if Russia (or, for that matter, North Korea) were to ever attack us from the west with nuclear missiles, Alaska would be the front line of any defense. I agree, Palin could have made that clearer. However, I thought her answer was basically a yawner, not something to get excited about.

One thing that seems to get in the way of any real damage for Palin is the approach of the interviewers. Such as: Katie Couric's suggestion to Palin that she is worthless (in Katie's eyes) by virtue of having no passport until last year. Palin had no trouble throwing that one back in her face. Chuck Gibson made similar mistakes.

Palin may be imprecise at times, but I have never failed to understand what she is saying. That is not always true of Obama (e.g., his inexplicable statement to 60 Minutes that the $700 billion corporate shareholder bailout must not, under any circumstance, benefit shareholders -- maybe those shareholders will be required under his plan to assign all of their newfound benefits to others).

I see it as absolutely valid

Because Palin said absolutely nothing while speaking a multitude of words. She was asked a question and instead of forming some type of reasonable answer, she went with the misdirection tactic of the big, bad, scary thing.

"Foreign policy experience?"

"LOOK! The bad man Putin!"

Remember this? "Privacy rights?"

"LOOK! The bad man terrorists!"

Not a single thing she said made very much sense. Again she acted like a student called upon to give an oral book report that she didn't read who tries to bluff through it by just rambling on about something that sounds close to the subject.

It's embarrassing that she's a Governor

Forget VP and the heartbeat stuff ... this woman is a Governor? Wow. I mean, Wow.

@Readerreader

Imprecise???? Her answer made no sense, nor did her answer about not having a passport until recently. All she was doing in that answer was trying to inject the usual charge of elitism that conservatives like to throw when cornered with actual issues. We need to stop cowering from this foolishness, and we need to be honest in our assessment: she is an idiot. As Margaret Carlson said tonight, to say that she represents small-town folk is an insult to small-town folk. It's the equivalent of saying "The Beverly Hillbillies" is representative of White Southerners.

"I'll try to find you some and I'll bring it to ya." Imprecise? Imbecilic.

Only an absolute partisan, or someone with a serious crush on her, could think she sounded merely "imprecise".

Not just McCain...

Anyone seriously considering voting for McCain/Palin, regardless of politics should be ashamed. This is clearly a campaign willing to say anything, no matter how dishonest, and do anything, no matter how potentially destructive to this country and the world, including nominating someone completely unfit to govern in the hopes of picking up female voters, to win this election. At this point, even fundamentalist oil company CEO's should at least be considering voting third party....

Remarkable Airhead!

There is no way that the McCain campaign will allow this mentally challenged person to enter into a debate with Biden! If they are forced to, the race for president will terminate.

Her lack of intellectual capacity is truly scary! She is extraordinarily deficient! A high school student from a good prep school debating team would put her to shame.
