I simply do not share Sarah Palin's values. While I believe in equal opportunities for all citizens, I believe it is also sometimes necessary to postpone even the grandest of plans in order to put family first (and actually LIVE one's values). Sarah has many years ahead of her to flex her political prowess. Right now, with a special needs baby and a pregnant teenager, it seems to me that both Sarah and her husband, Todd, need to be on board 24/7 with the immediate issues confronting their beautiful family. As a legal professional, new grandmother and mother of four, I have been richly blessed and can attest to the fact that putting family first creates its own meaningful rewards!
It surely must be SEXISM because here comes a winsome potential female VP and most democrats are competing with each other to hurl misogynistic insults at her - go figure!!! :(
I certainly respect your views and opinion. From my perspective, we Dems should not use her choice to pursue her career in politics while raising a special-needs child as a line of attack. I personally do not feel qualified to venture an opinion; I am unmarried, and childless. (I'm holding out for Alicia Keys.)
However, I do think it is valid, from a political perspective, to note that Governor Palin had the opportunity to make a choice, and that she would, if given her druthers, deny others the chance to make that choice.
I must, again, point out that "The Daily Show" had a routine which perfectly captured the trouble Republicans have with that word. I think I'm going to stop watching CNN and MSNBC altogether.
FORTY-ONE Years ago noted Zoologist-Anthropologist, Prof. Desmond Morris, published his ground-breaking study on Human Behavior ..... "THE NAKED APE"
Thus concluded the Professor ...
...... Early female homo-sapiens were drawn down that long road toward High Fashion as a means of preparing for The Competion in her "Survival of the Fittest" quest to 'snatch' the most suitable Mate of The Herd.
While "Alley-Oop & his contemporary Neanderthal Buddies are more at peace with themselves on the Competitive Basketball Court ......... "Lucy the Troglodyte" and the Berry Gathering Gals are prone to hang out at the Shopping Malls where they can indulge to their heart's content with Blueberry Smoothies.
And the full voluptuousness of the Homo-Sapien Mammary Glands ?? ... altogether absent in other Mammals (e.g. dogs, monkeys, pitbulls, etc.) ?? ... Well, following 80,000 years of mimicing the fondle of the female buttocks, so sez the Professor, Sarah Sapiens glands, in time, developed towards that Art ... and .. VOILA !!
Meanwhile, the acqusition of Musky, Fragrant Perfumes were a universally obvious means to imitate the 'Scented-Snatch of a Woman' ....
... while Ruby-Red "LIP-STICK", on the other hand, was an openly obvious means to mimic -- that is, 'Burlesque' -- the Bright, Blood-Engorged Clitoral-Vulvan regions of the Survivalist-Species' strategically targeted "Ground-Zero" ....
Furthermore ... it's conspicuously clear to all that when .. On-The-Hunt .. the Peacocked Dude parades himself flamboyantly out onto the Disco-Floor .... that his own Animal-Inclinations kick-into place .. so as to draw his Orbs to 'The Very Rubiest of All Smiles' among the 'Snatch-Herd' ...... at least, so insistedProfessor Morris.
Understanding PITBULLS .. as the noted author of "DOGWATCHING" does .. [by the way, the absolute finest study on Canine Behavior ever writ] ... I can't imagine The Professor's current reflections upon what Miss-Whats-Her-Face possibly had in mind with the allegorical "Lipsticked Pitbull".
Implanting such an unnerving Snapshot into the Psyche of the 21st Century Male Homo-Erectus-Repulicus could only serve to allienate voters from the prospective pool of Troglodytes.
A Lip-Sticked Pit-Bull ? ? ...
... One must shutter the thought .. & quickly put it out of One's Mind.
Thank you for your thoughts regarding my posting. My comments concerning raising a family and a special needs baby while simultaneously pursuing a career in politics were not intended as a line of attack against Sarah Palin. Rather, they reflect my own life experience --- and that is, that I believe it is possible to "have it all," just maybe not all at the same time. Life challenges us in many ways. Sometimes, some of those challenges require us to pause for a while, and focus our full attention on what, I believe, really matters.

"she chooses to have a Special Needs child."

No kidding!
Now I heard That Todd has a special dial on his dick, you know: Blond...Boy...Girl...Special Needs......
From the many remarks made, it appears there are few Republican Salon.com members. I am not a Democrat or Republican. Sarah Palin was exceptional! Is that the reason for so much negativity? There are a lot of sarcastic, mean-spirited, smug, nasty, and insulting posts against her. She is being accused of doing to Obama what is being done to her. There's an old truth saying, "What we dislike most in others is what we dislike in ourselves."
Sarah Palin was exceptional!
All the neocon trolls say that.
I am not a Democrat or Republican.
All the neocon trolls say that too.
There are a lot of sarcastic, mean-spirited, smug, nasty, and insulting posts against her.
You want sarcastic, mean-spirited, smug, nasty, and insulting, find a transcript of Palin's speech.
There's an old truth saying, "What we dislike most in others is what we dislike in ourselves."
What exactly is it you don't like about yourself, pub?
She has a seventeen year old daughter who despite the abstinence only education she has received has some how gotten pregnant.
Abstinence-only sex education explains very carefully to young women that if they sleep with a man they'll get pregnant, and we can be sure that Bristol was always very careful to never fall asleep.
She's still mystified as to how she actually managed to be with child and is thinking of changing her name to 'Mary'.
I still have a hard time imagining how is Mrs. Palin supposed to appeal to a feminist?
It does contradict everything I thought feminism was about: freedom of choice for my body, preventing teenage pregnancies, going beyond and above the cliché: soccer mom with a day job and a night hunk.
As for foreign policy, forget the potential enemies.I bet that West European leaders love the idea to have a pit bull bark in their face. Not to mention that condoscending statement about our European allies. Her appearance is a diplomacy killer at best.
To be honest before Sarah Palin I thought McCain could be a better choice than Obama.McCain seemed moderate, smart, better prepared and able to bridge a divided country in a difficult economic situation. After Sarah Palin , I am one hundred percent pro Obama. I have no more doubts.
Today I am one less woman to vote for McCain, so call me sexist…
