That was the word that a large corporation I worked for many years for used when justifying hiring a young spunky hispanic woman as a GM by- passing many of us old-timers.She had no management experience, but was a hot babe.Unfortunately she also had a "power trip orgasm" the first few days on the job and insulted several of her employees.Guess who had to put this snarling shrill power hungry babe in the office, close the door and handle several HR grievances for discrimination, insult etc etc.?
The fact that she was a mother of 4,very devout pentecostal did not stop her from leaving the kids with her ex-husband for a boyfriend that was in a GM position,in other words she tried to "better herself" all around.(Poor Todd watch-out?But don't worry he left her shortly after.)So she happily tried relationships(I am trying to be nice in the description) with most of the male management staff. All the while her great ex handled the kids,us old work horses handled the office, tried to keep her away from staff, decision making, specially financial ones,as there were several disasters.Eventually her older daughter got pregnant at 16,after a brief tumultuous stay with mom, older son left to a spiritual retreat, her middle daughter plunged ahead and disconnected from her totally, the youngest called her a whore and that was the end of that relationship.
I have purposely left some more descriptive details out,as my corporate office may recognise this. She did resign, diversity programm backfired after few more tries,we still have some 'token' employees, most of them actually worked out pretty good. But when I laid my eyes on Sarracuda the hair stood at the back of my neck, deja`vous few years back.
Then I analysed the whole experience and it really ended OK at the end.But as a country we cannon afford these kind of corporate experiment screw ups!Just because we strive for diversity and equality for all we cannot hire just anybody based on few male hormons thinking what a babe and some even liking the snarling bitchy attitude. After all it can go either way,she will deliver or "spanks" us and we will.Everybody happy?
Please somebody wake up.We are up to some major "miss - use" of power.
"Isn't that two for two now for McCain and the beauty queens?"
Actually, it's three. His first wife was also a pageant queen.
And we already know what he calls his current wife!!
Watching the Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, Governor Sarah Palin, who sounded like Margaret Thatcher on steroids, speak at the GOP Convention, I could not help but think of Faust’s Tragedy and Ernest Hemingway’s brilliant interpretation of modern day Faust in “The Old Man and The Sea”. Now we have the tragic figure, Senator John McCain, like Faust, a good man at heart, but also extremely ambitious and driven to obtain his own ultimate prize. In McCain’s tragedy, it is not fame, immortality, or the great white shark, but the Office of the Presidency, which is driving his obsessive struggle. In order to attain his prize, like Faust, McCain will make any compromise to his personal character be it to the Evangelical Christians, the Conservative Right, American women or his past honourable record. Governor Palin is but a tool presented to tempt McCain to further compromise his ideals, in his pact with inner demons. The Alaskan Governor is indeed an effective tool, but lest we forget, the tool may one day become the President, and only then would McCain’s Faustian tragedy be finalized.
Push her nose into the poo she has dropped. Don't like the smell of your own stuff? Ms Walsh. The reason why the boyfriend was in the hall is obvious, nicht wahr?
Your defence consists of a repetition of charges. Kimberly Strassel writing in the WSJ has a very different take on Palin. You choose to listen to her enemies; Strassel to her friends. I will take your view into account but also hers, since I was not there, and neither was the natuional press until recently. Yellow journalism is not necessarily wrong, but, boy, is it flashy and loud. We could have used a bit more of it when Edward's adultery was revealed almost a year agoi.
As far as "personal attacks on Obama," they are quite unlike the kind on the internet. You don't like the "sneering." Mrs. Palin does not "sneer," she shows her teeth. Sort of like Joe Biden when he went after Clarence Thomas. What the heck HAS "the community organizer" actually done. except run --brilliantly-- for office and give stirring speeches? I can think of no more thinly qualified candidate for president in either party since William Jennings Bryan, who like Obama rose to the top of the political heap at an even earlier age on the strength of his oratory.
He has managed his campaign brilliantly, but It would seem that he would not have even won in Iowa if the voters
had known about Edward's little affair.
Did people in the know keep the matter hidden because rancor against Hilary in the party was so deep that they wanted to keep Edwards in the caucuses to ruin her chances, just as many in the Republican party wanted to get Romney? A similar ploy was at work in South Carolina when Bill put his foot in his mouth and allowed Obama to trans mute from the biracial candidate into the black candidate. But I digress.
Presents a frequent claim, at least by implication: that all Christians, especially evangelicals and Catholics, are hypocrites. And gives anecdotal evidence to "prove it." But Al Gore can produce a large "carbon footprint" than the whole town of Wassila, and be excused for it simply because his heart is true, because he is the caliph of the new faith of glocal warming. Sir/Ma'am, I have read " Peyton Place." I have lived in a small town. But the greater hypocrisy is the open hypocrisy of the limosine liberal on the West Side of Manhattan, who preaches a faith he obviously does not practice.
