A pit bull in lipstick?

A snarling Sarah Palin savages Barack Obama while her defenders deride sexism and "liberal media" bias.

The letters thread is now closed.

WHEN REPUBLICANS GO DEMOCRAT --AND DEMOCRATS GO REPUBLICAN

What is really remarkable is that, with Palin, the parties have totally switched their traditional images. Obama reflects nothing but monied entitlement, ineffectively overblown rhetoric, True Believer zealots and the innate divisiveness we have seen for the past eight years in the GOP.

Sarah Palin is now branded as the plain can do, mom knows how to fix it grit that used to be emblematic of Democratic Populism.

And guess what, Karl Rove likely had a hand in selecting both. His friendship with Donna Brazile very probably made sure of that. How many Rasputins have ever gotten to rig both sides of a ballot?

You are about to be Rove-gamed for the third time.

Rove Rules:Pragmatism always trumps rhetoric.

And in times of crisis, the stressed invariably skew to the familiar.

Tough luck democrats. You foisted an unelectable candidate onto the ticket at the cost of turning a great many of us into independents. We've been and gone because you caved to factional interests and ignored the most qualified.

Bloggers here can rant on about how inexperienced Palin is but she actually has more practical qualifications than Obama.

The bottom line truth is neither of them are suited for this job. And every citizen is precisely aware of this in their choosing. And now they are aware that they can either pick an inexperienced but very imperial Presidential Candidate that no one in any small-town can or wants to relate to or go for the likable scrappy mom next door to become vice-president.

Which do you think they are going to want to end up with- the Chicago-machine lifetime grant-grabber or their neighbor?

When we who used to be Democrats kept saying this is not a good idea, what did you think we meant.

Not happy with this woman?

Tough luck. You could have had as the woman in question Hillary Clinton. Sarah Palin instead is your very own fault.

How you think the same people who voted for Bush twice rather than accept Gore Dean or Kerry are going to choose Obama over Palin --because that is how it is going to play-- is maybe the only interesting question left in this election. There are a lot more of them than the Obagullible. It's a majority election.

I am not voting for either one. But everyone else won't be voting for someone who is iconic of party division and the urban-rural disparity of interests.

Obama has nothing to offer but an image of isolated privilege and yet more words. The GOP just offered us the reassurance of each other in the mirror. Brilliant.

McCain sold his soul to Karl Rove and the Devil has just delivered.

Suckers.

Here's to Sexism

In addition to applying her lipstick, she really should wash her hair and comb it, especially for such a big event as last night.

This convention and its' speakers, including this woman, is as empty and shallow as their platform and their positions, inasmuch as we have been informed of them.

Anyone can do what she did last night, if that is what it takes to win an election. It takes a different breed and style and character to govern the most powerful nation in the world, especially now, and I have seen no one on that podium or in that crowd of sameness who is capable of that.

If they think they can escape accountability for the past 8 years by maligning a party and an individual who has spoken to the pressing issues of today, they are grossly mistaken. And, if I am mistaken, then, we deserve everything we get, for we should have learned our lesson by now.

Sarah. Oh so cute for a pit bull and soooo AMERICAN

One thing is obvious about this whole thing. Sarah Palin has got you liberals running scared. The heart of middle America can identify with her and her values...the values that liberals so disdain. She is a successful career woman with a husband and a family. Liberals hate nuclear families. Your heroes are unwed Hollywood types and single, husband-less ghetto moms or lesbian lovers. Middle America is made of hard working men and women raised in nuclear families...you know the ones with a mother and a father, both of whom usually have to work to support their families and...the unwed, single ghetto mothers you so admire. Sarah's daughter, pregnant and knowing who the baby's father is, will be wed soon, giving the child a traditional surname---the father's. A very un-liberal manifestation of traditional America---you can have sex for fun or love but you better be ready to pay the consequences----child support or marriage---somebody's gotta raise the baby.

@gala11 privilege?

Don't you sense the irony of discussing Obama's privilege when Cindy McCain is walking around in gear worth more than the US median home price?

I remember her from highschool

I just watched a convention of people who haven't outgrown junior high school.

Jealous as hell of the smart kids, the talented kids and the well liked kids, they gather with other losers, make up malicious stories, and call people names.

We had a name for them back then, and it still fits:

Losers.

And Sarah Barracuda, with her cutting tongue, topped the lot. A pit bull with lipstick? No responsible dog owner lets a pit bull run loose, even if it's wearing lipstick and heels. Dangerous dogs like that need diligent discipline, and even then may harm innocent people.

Apparently these "good Christian folk" use a different Bible than mine. It seems to have omitted "Thou shalt not bear false witness," and "He who hates his brother has committed murder in his heart." Evil. Pure, unadulterated Evil Incarnate.

Not to get too far from the subject, but has McCain figured out how many luxury homes he has yet?

More than ten, fewer than twenty, maybe?

Palin

Re: "Your problem is going to be that this woman has convictions. You may not agree with her, and i certainly don't on many things. But she has convictions."

You don't know that. She's made ONE speech that somebody else wrote for her. She obviously can't manage her family life. I know that.
