I've been hearing all year about how the voters don't want negative and in fact the Obama campaign has risen like cream to the top by avoiding it (directly, anyway). Yet Palin just dropped a steaming pile of negative right onto America's lap. Will they find it to their taste, or, like me, be utterly repulsed?
Palin clearly has no idea what a community organizer does
Enlighten us, because it's a meaningless term.
What were Obama's achievements as community organizer. Since, nobody seems to be able to enumerate them, and seem an expert on the matter, perhaps you can enlighten us, and then explain how this prepares someone for the office of president, in a manner greater than Mayor.
You hit the nail on the head.
The people at the Republican convention all have that hate filled, vengeful look last seen in the movie "Bob Roberts”.
It must take so much energy to maintain that level of anger.
You're getting sloppy and not bringing your A game. You quote included the words 'bare knuckled'. I don't know any wimps that employ bare knuckle tactics. And have you ever lived in Chicago or read about it's history? Chicago politics has never been for sissies.
To get back to the junkyard dog in question, Sarah had her moment tonight. She played to the crowd. But it remains to be seen how the national audience will respond, particularly those 'undecideds' out there. She can't just repeat this speech for the next 60 or so days. She's going to have to branch out. The media isn't done with her by any means. Let's she how she holds up to that and see if she can think on her feet. She may actually have to talk semi-intelligently about policy.
I'm stunned. This isn't our Sarah.
This is someone mean and sarcastic and scary. People here like Sarah on a personal level because she's down to earth and nice, or at least we thought she was nice.
A.) Do you think she has given the green light for Obama surrogates to "bring it".
B.) Do you think Hillary Clinton will "bring it".
C.) What do you think Hillary will do to her if she does "bring it on".
I for one think this speech was a golden gift to Hillary Clinton because by clobbering Palin SHE can win back Obama supporters who will be essential if she wants to be a major power in the Democratic party going forward.
Actually, I would ask those questions of a man who had this same family. Kids that young and a newborn with special needs require a lot of attention from both parents.
Any Hillary supporter who does not return to the "fold" after the lies, distortions and evil rhetoric tonight was not a Democrat to begin with. We must work together to fight these desperate tactics that McCain decided he must use to win.
Democrats, we need to unify as never before: if the GOP can circle their wagons around McCain, a broken down old flip-flopper and Palin, an inexperienced Caribou Prom Queen on steroids -- can't we all come together to support Barack Obama -- the candidate Hillary and Bill Clinton have both heartily endorsed and pledged to work to elect?
Could it be that the liberal blogosphere and the mainstream media have implied that her baby's Down's syndrome was somehow her fault? That they spread the rumor that this child was not hers, but her daughter's, and that her husband was the father?
If you said that about my child, you had better find God before I find you, you mudslinging bastards.
Yeah, she's sick of you. So are a lot of other people. You are disgusting human garbage.
I think Obama, and the Democratic Party, are counting on real feminist like you to tear that anti-feminist to pieces.
Does Palin turn your stomach as much as she turns mine?
I got mad at Hillary Clinton because I thought she had become too vindictive in her primary campaign, but never was she as nasty as Palin is.
Palin truly upsets me, and her character is worse than Ann Coulter.
Please don't let Palin get away with her divisiveness.
well hmmm if this isn't sexism, please do tell...what is??
From the SEXist New York Times, Missy Dowd put the Governor of Alaska in Go-Go Boots and ruby red peep-toe platform heels that reveal a pink French-style pedicure! Dowd then uses every sexist connotation to poke fun of females who reach for power, attacking Palin’s intellect, body, hair, life choices, and family and PTA involvement, while ignoring her many accomplishments in public life. Dowd reduces Palin in the exact manner she reduced Clinton—attacking the women, not the candidate.
At this point, I’d like to see the Times write an OP/ed that puts Barack in a crack house, wearing one-earning, talking in double negatives, fixn’ up some collard greens, and whacking on whitey for all the affirmative action luvn’ he and Michele got along the way, along with reportorial pock shots at the lack of any-little-thing Obama accomplished as a community organizer, or the fact that in 12 years at his cushy teaching appointment at U. of Chicago he did not publish a SINGLE paper.
Cartoon-wise there is MUCH fun to be made this last—any other non-publishing prof would hardly be offered tenure time and again for such lackluster performance. But a cartoon Obama, might say: “wink, wink, heck, me and Ayers could blow this place sky high and they’d still be luvn’ on me! TE TE...giggle giggle.”
American needs to see the contrast of respect, vs. utter disrespect. But don’t be holding ur breath on that one! The press has decided it is not OK to denigrated blacks, but women are just dandy targets. Sexist Rules! Sexism Rocks!
and that's just the start. Slate and The New York Times are firing up the Mommy Wars in an attempt to divide women....
